Do NOT support this restaurant. This is a bummer to write because this was actually one of the best shrimp burritos we’ve had in a long time. Unfortunately, the dishonesty of this establishment will prevent us from ever coming back.

We walked into this place out of necessity because of a rain storm. We didn’t have cell service and couldn’t do our usual vetting of reviews. We considered it a happy accident because like we said: amazing burrito.

When we received our bill, it was not itemized and something just seemed off. The staff were friendly and we didn’t want to kill the vibe, so we trusted them. We asked the server if we could add tip to the credit card reader and she said no. We said “that’s okay, we have cash.”

Halfway back to our apartment, still trying to figure out why the bill seemed so high, we received cell service again and started to see the multiple reviews of people being overcharged.

After looking at the menu online and adding it up, we should’ve been charged $820 pesos. We were charged $955 pesos, on top of which we added a cash tip.

It turns out this establishment charges a 15% “service fee” without the consent of the customers, which is illegal in Mexico.

So, if you still want to try a wicked shrimp burrito and decide to go here, be careful. But we’d rather you support a different establishment with honest...

I wish I could rate it more than 3/5 as it looked very nice when we came for dinner. It's a small, rustic looking, charming place on the street corner.

We ordered a soup and a an assortment seafood platter. It took 52 minutes to get the dinner. The soup was incredible (seafood). Rich flavor, very, very tasty. However, the platter was laughable. 3 pieces of small shrimp, a tiny piece of fish fillet and some octopus. The platter was around 350 pesos. For that you get the whole fish fried at a lot of places nearby.

Again, the food is good, really good. Even the food on my platter was really tasty...but I've only been there once and the experience was not too great.

I would definitely go back for that fish soup as it was amazing. But for the soup only.

P.s. the waitress was nice and we could sew she felt uncomfortable that we were waiting that long. It was the kitchen problem, not the...

The reason for the rating is that the waitress tried to rip us off. The place was nice, the food was okay and the service was terrible. I ordered waffles ($125) with a side of bacon ($35) and scrambled eggs ($30). I even showed/pointed out what I wanted. She got the price right for the waffles, but she priced the bacon and eggs at $135. Not sure what she thought she was doing and no wonder why when I got my food, the bacon was mixed in with the eggs (which I did not want) but ate it cause I thought that's how they cooked it. She never refilled my coffee cup but refilled my significant other drink while at the restaurant. I only had 1 cup of coffee from the time I was seated to the time I finished my meal. She only acknowledged my significant other. Won't be...

I’ve been in Playa for a month now and have eaten at several different ceviche restaurants. This place is my favorite so far. It was recommended to me by my dive instructor. It’s a bit out of the the way from Quinta (5th ave) but it’s worth the trip. The food is delicious and the owner, Roberto, and his wait staff are friendly and attentive. Shown in the photos is the house ceviche that they serve . It’s fresh and delicious. I’ve also had the Peruvian style ceviche and it was excellent. I keep wanting to try something else but the ceviche is too hard not to order. As I said, it’s worth the trip—especially if you want to escape the tourist hustle. As a bonus, there’s a fruit shop across the street that has much better produce than what you find in Soriana.

A COUPLE WEEKS ago... ... Stacey and I met the owner, Roberto, of this amazing fresh, local ceviche market & restaurant. He took us back in the kitchen to show us just how big these shrimp are, and we promised to come back, and so we did. For Christmas Eve dinner we split one of the best burritos we’ve had in Mexico, and we don’t say that lightly. ribeye steak with garlic shrimp and all the trimmings. The massively, huge made-from-scratch lemonade was perfect to wash it all down. Just one block from fifth on 10 in Playa - we should have come here sooner. Thank you Roberto and all your staff for such a wonderful meal.
