The food here was really bad and super overpriced. The dishes they serve are extremely small and the fish is not at all fresh. The “cocktails” are just sugary syrup topped up with a mixer, no flavour at all, but priced like they are real cocktails.
At the end, we were told tactlessly that our tip was not enough (not even asked whether we were happy with the food or service) and then the waitress shamelessly insisted we gave more before processing the bill and letting us leave. I totally understand tipping is customary in Mexico as it is in certain other countries like the US, but the way this was handled made us dread the rest of the trip if that is how money-grabbing every person in every place will be, even when what they offer doesn’t live up to a decent standard. The combination of awful food, extremely loud music and general service meant this experience really had no redeeming qualities.
We definitely won’t go back here and can’t recommend the place to anyone else. The whole experience was such a bad start to our stay in Playa Del Carmen—it made us wish we...
Read moreWe like to eat sushi for takeout/delivery every week and for a long time Mirai was our go-to place; their sushi was really good, fresh and for a good price too! But lately not so much. We had problem with the salmon not being good and fresh once and since it had never happened we just told them and they said they were struggling to find a new distributor.
Then it was ok for a while but this week the salmon was again not up to par, it smelled and the taste of the sushi was altered (we eat the same every week so we know) and ended up tossing all the salmon and eating less than half our order. We told them about it and tried to get them to send us something else and they were just like “no the salmon is ok our cook says”. We said either you make it right or you lose faithful customers. They chose to lose us...
I seriously cannot understand how as a business you choose to ditch faithful regular customers for one time we ask to fix something after almost a year of regular ordering....
Read moreUpdating review: I previously mentioned how this place has good pricing and food and gave it 5 stars, ever since I have been coming here in average of 3 times per week spending about $2,800 mx per month and today was disappointing, I was charged with $10 pesos for a cup of water, cup of water I could buy at a oxxo or for $70 - a hole gallon for myself. This is not about the $10 extra pesos, it’s about how in many places in Mexico the don’t think about costumer loyalty over a quick buck / $10 pesos.
It’s just flat out dumb. 🤦♂️
Food it’s still really good, service overall is also good, apart from that one individual person who thought it was smart to add $10 pesos. Location and interior is clean and fresh 😊
Ain’t coming back as often as I used to. Might continue to come, most likely a loss of $2,500 per month.
(Costumer loyalty over a quick buck...
