So we came here twice on our vacation. Once was a regular evening, and the other was New Year’s Eve. The service here is excellent; I found it very nice to see them making sure we were having a lovely time and keeping us taken care of. For middle eastern food, playa does not have many options, and we wanted to try the hummus, and it was an honest good attempt. The hummus was missing olives, and the pita was not quite right. This was more of a tribute and is more likely a supply issue than anything else, as all of the flavors were there. I liked their take on tartar. The lemon and mint water (with or without sugar) welcomed surprise. Whoever put the menu together one what they were doing. For middle eastern food, this is not your only spot to go, but it was the most authentic one in playa. I will be back for sure.
I also had the chicken shawarma wrap, a perfect take, but the garlic sauce was not as thick as I am used to, but all of the flavors are there. This is the closest I have ever gotten in the world playa area. Give it a shot as I think you...
Read moreThe best thing going for this restaurant is the beautiful location on 38th street in a lush jungle. But even that was ruined by the competing music from Tahini and 5’ away from their neighbor. The food was not good. We have eaten at many Mediterranean restaurants and know what it needs to taste like. Salad was the best item from what we ordered. The lamb chops were good, but came on a bed of cold mashed potatoes. Even the chops themselves were tiny for the most expensive dish on the menu. My Chicken Kebab with Arabic spices was tasteless. The sauce served with it tasted like straight mayonnaise. My wife ordered a White Iced Tea and didn’t like the flavor. When she told the waiter that she didn’t like the taste of it and wanted to order something else, he took her Iced Tea without even asking. We were under the impression that he is changing it for something else. But when the bill came both of her...
Read moreI ordered through Rappi. Verduras a la plancha , falafel pita and a mixed mushroom tartar.
Vegs were carrots and a few potatoes drenched and swimming in oil and no seasoning. Two tiny pieces of asparagus. Definitely sauteed and the carrots were still quite hard and nothing grilled. The oil had an off-putting flavor to it. Couldn't finish it.
Falafels in the pita seemed old, very dry and not even warm. Also no seasoning. Choked it down. One sauce only to put on it.
The tartar might have been ok if it was seasoned more than it was SWEETENED. Awful. Stopped after two bites .
I've heard people rave about this place. It was a regular dinner hour , not the end of the day.. I'll try once more in person and edit from there..
