It was the first day of 2023. Yeah, I know, it's a holiday. But the service, specifically the waiting time was ABHORRENT. ⏳⏱️They took soooooo long for them to take our order and THEN to bring out the food. 🚶I was lucky enough to get a seat in the balcony and you better appreciate the view because it was the best thing the restaurant had to offer. 🤷 The food was OK. Just ok. The portions were tiny 👌 (guacamole and the cemitas de canasta, basquet cemitas I guess. The place it's pricey for the portions and the quality of the food, even for a restaurant. Their pulque natural was bitter and their tacos were laughably small 😂. Also, I don't know if they were short on staff or what but not only did they took aeons for taking our orders but also to clean other tables. Other people look desperate for the waiters to take their orders too. Also, do not expect to eat authentic local food in here. Their recipes are somewhat off. I order a "chileatole" 🌶️🌽 wich is a sort of soup made in the region, usually street food, wich is served in a cup, and is more like a soup and less like a cream. This one was so thick you couldn't distinguish it from the guacamole 😂. So, as for today, I cannot sincerely...
Read moreAfter reading all the positive reviews my experience was underwhelming, to say the least. That's why I want to give an alternative (re-)view. The hostess didn't want to give me a balcony table (the one with the best view of the square and the cathedral), probably because I was alone. She told me there wasn't a balcony table available but when I looked there was one left. After saying this, she conceded and gave me the table.(?!) I ordered the chilaquiles which amounted to tortilla chips drenched in basic tomato sauce with a few pieces of chicken, some raw onion and grated cheese. Boring and cheap tasting, like something a student would make. When I wanted to wipe my mouth I noticed I wasn't given a napkin. How hard is it? The glass of wine I ordered was allright but I paid 149 peso's for it, which is way too much. I honestly don't understand why this place got so many good reviews but maybe I picked the wrong dish, dealt with the wrong hostess and shouldn't have...
Read moreWe stumbled upon this place while on a group tour of Puebla, during our free time for lunch. I had seen the good reviews and notes about their selection of moles, and since we were in Puebla, figured it was a good time to try them.
While the portion sizes are beyond generous and the agua frescas delicious, the standout of the meal was our server - I can’t remember his first name (so sorry!) but I believe his last name was Anfitrión (written on his name tag below his first name!)
From the start, he was unbelievably attentive, super efficient, and wonderfully accommodating - we were in a bit of a rush (since these tours never give enough time), and he made sure we were able to try everything we wanted to, even going so far as to bring me a small bowl with extra pozole broth so that my mom and I could share the plate between us. One of our best customer service experiences in Mexico, and in a beautiful restaurant with delicious, reasonably-priced...
