Sémola Pan y Café — Restaurant in Puebla

I recently visited Sèmola on 6/25/24 and had one of the worst dining experiences of my life. The food was incredibly basic and lacked flavor; although it was nicely plated, which was deceiving. I have had better chilaquiles at more local, authentic sports. The most disappointing part was the service. Our waitress spent most of the time chatting with her coworkers and ignored our table. Her coworkers assisted us more than she did. She had a bad attitude and barely made an effort to explain the menu or speak up, making it difficult to understand her. At one point, she even acknowledged and apologized for ignoring our table.

To top it off, as we were leaving, she actually chased after us demanding a tip, despite her poor service! She caught up to us at the bakery portion of their establishment and proceeded to belittle us and question why we didn’t leave a tip, stating when you go out to eat, you know what’s expected and aggressively act towards us in front of other patrons and employees. This kind of behavior is unacceptable and unprofessional. I will not be returning, and I advise others to avoid this place if they value good food and respectful service.

La primera vez me emocioné por que un familiar me recomendó ir, llegamos y había mucha gente algo malo es qué hay muy poco estacionamiento, sin embargo hay una casa donde te estacionas ,cuando llegamos mucha gente esperando y la chava que atendía muy enredada, llegamos ahí alrededor de las 9:45 , llegaba gente y se ponía en la sala de espera y no esperaban mas de 5 minutos y ya los dejaban pasar al restaurante nosotros tuvimos que esperar alrededor de 2 horas para entrar incluso una familia que “no iba a comer solo iba a hacer negocios con sémola” los dejaron entrar incluso unas personas que estaban atrás de donde estábamos sentados se quejaron y le comentaron a la chava que debíamos ser nosotros que llevábamos esperando mucho y la chava nos dijo lo que acabo de escribir , realmente eso está mal ya que nosotros esperamos dos horas para estará y gente que apenas llegaba los dejaban esperar y no llevaban esperando ni 15 minutos, tuvimos que comprar un pan por cierto muy rico para que se nos bajara el hambre ,a las 11 o 12 por fin entramos ,nos cambiaron de mesa como 3 veces no tardo mucho la comida pero para sus precios creo que es un poco abusivo, pedí un sándwich acompañado de salsa de tomate y para su sabor y porciones creo que el precio es muy elevado incluso mi hermana pidió un tipo pan tostado y solo llevaba lechuga queso etc pero muy pocos ingredientes y además carísimo, cuando terminamos de comer le pedimos a un mesero la cuenta y se tardo mucho en traerlo, se lo tuvimos que pedir a una mesera súper buena onda , y el chavo que le pedimos la cuenta al principio ni sus luces solo estaba ahí en la computadora que está arriba y hablando con un señor de lentes ,hasta que nos fuimos nos pidió disculpas por no traer la cuenta . Aún así sus panes...

This cafe is really my vibe! The colours, the style, the feeling! I 100% recommend you to come here if you are looking for a chilling place with good coffee and great pastry. Sadly, we didn't get any hot meals, but by the smell, I am sure they are great as well. Also the service is really nice, friendly and kind. Our waitress Elisa made our experience even better.
