I hate to write a bad review. Most poor customer service in 5 weeks in Mexico. We asked if they could make a specialty coffee named “Flat White.” It turned into something completely different. We mentioned that this isn’t the way this drink should be made. The manager believed it is. We love specialty coffee and are always looking for the best shops in town. We have visited over 200 specialty coffee shops in 4 continents around the world. Still, they believe I am wrong. It takes 5 minutes online and you will find the espresso ratio, foam amount, and size of cups needed. Or just do a barista course!?
Initially, I was at the point of drinking no coffee at all and simply returning my drinks. Because there is a specialty coffee shop in town. Use Google Maps to find it.
Now the most important part of this review comes: beside the fact if I am right or they are right. Usually, the client is king in decent shops. After a normal discussion with the manager or owner of the cafe, we agreed on what my understanding was of how a “flat white” should look like. She offered me to make a new drink. This drink was still not according to the standard (used cup was too big and so the ratio of espresso and milk is not right). However, we believed it was acceptable, since the only other coffee shop is a bit away and we didn’t want to take a taxi to that part of town. When we got the bill, we were extremely surprised that we had to pay for the two latte drinks we returned! We said we never had such experience in hospitality before. We clearly mentioned that we didn’t think it’s fair to charge us for two drinks that simply are not conforming to the standard.
In the end, they charged us for 4 lattes instead of just two! Making it a total bill of 780 pesos! If they were a self-respecting company with a decent know-how of customer service and self-reflection works, they would deduct the 120 pesos from the bill and let us pay for 2 lattes instead of 4! The cost price of an espresso and a little bit of milk is really low…
The avocado toast was also really poor compared to other places where we went. I asked for chili to bring it a little bit to taste. Never got it from the waiter. You pay a high price and get a below-average dish.
I believe they can get away with average prices, low quality, and poor customer service because American floods of tourists continue to come. We as Europeans are at least more used to a higher standard and will never return to this cafe.
Ps; when I read reviews like “best coffee we had in Yucatan” am surprised. We have visited about 25 coffee shops in Yucatan and Oxaca and this must be on the last...
Read moreOur first visit was nice.. we were told please not to write our names down on hanging list...they would do so. Food was great! This time we were 2nd in the line. They helped the couple in front of us. We waited like 10 minutes fir thatn no problem..But then another guy comes around us.. scribbling his name on the list. The lady comes back.. and instead of helping us next, she ignored us and called this guys name from the list he just walked up and wrote down. Like 2 seconds before...they sat him. Now there were no tables left open. When we said hey what is with that? The lady asked her co worker. Who snapped at her back. So the first lady disappeared inside.. another woman I guess a manager by her outfit.. said we could wait on the couch and be sat when they had a table. We left. We live here we will never be back.. and we will never bring our visitors here. This was horrible in a Monday morning.. and Im kinda cranky honestly, because I'm starving now...and super annoyed. I'm done with this place... Now I'm at the back of a line two blocks away. Starting over on waiting because this place had to be so disorganized and...

I’m a big matcha latte lover and it was a surprise for me that they add coffee into matcha latte (even thought coffee drinks and matcha latte are on the different pages in the menu). In all the other places I’ve been they never do that as the purpose of matcha is a healthier substitution for coffee that still contains caffeine. 🤷♀️ I asked if they could substitute the drink for no coffee one and they brought a matcha latte with no coffee but so much added sugar that it was impossible to drink, I asked if they could do a different one with no sugar, but they refused. Even thought I didn’t drink the matcha and gave it back they still charged me for the drink
The avocado egg toast was nothing outstanding...
