What a magical little place, from the landscape, to individually decorated rooms, to the staff that feels like family! I will admit I wouldn't have checked out this property because I thought the nightly rate was too much for the star rating, but it was highly recommended and I really needed a place. How grateful I am! I did discover that with this property it is best to book direct, much better rates. You can also call with questions and they always answer (not always the case with hotels in this part of Mexico, in my experience). Exceptional staff. Not just some of them, all of them! Some of the staff is fluent in English and others speak enough that there were no communication issues. All were incredibly accommodating. You need something, just ask. Massage, laundry, bicycle rental? Done. Absolutely 5-star staff! You could not ask for a better location. Only a couple of blocks from everything (market, town square, beach, and taxis). You step out to the street that is closed off every evening and becomes a pedestrian only street so all of the amazing restaurants can have outdoor seating. Lots of lights, music, great aromas. The rooms have lots of light and large windows (many rooms with multiple windows), and are clean, comfortable, and everything works. There is plenty of warm (even hot) water with enough water pressure. I assumed that being in the middle of all the action that sound would be an issue. Surprisingly, no issue at all. Unless of course, I had all the windows open and enjoyed the cross breeze and in the evening, then the live music was just a bonus. The included breakfast was always delicious and included hot food, fresh fruit, coffee, fresh juice, etc. The landscape is lush, beautiful and well maintained, as is the pool, which has a fountain which is like music to my ears. So relaxing. The internet worked well for all my streaming and work needs. I've stayed her more than once, in more than one room, and I will be back. It truly is my favorite hotel in Mexico, my home away from home!

El Moro is my go to hotel when visiting Puerto Morelos. It’s a quaint, lovingly maintained property with charming, simple rooms and serene outdoor spaces. The breakfast courtyard enjoys the shade of a massive, majestic Banyan tree. The pool is small, but well-maintained and the surrounding patio provides several spots to get out of direct sun. Most rooms, at least in the rear buildings, have generous balcony/patio space immediately in front. The staff is consistently warm and accommodating. The buffet breakfast has enough choices that you’ll always find something you like (and I love that I could just keep refilling my coffee cup). The property is small and intimate enough that you’ll feel comfortable striking up conversations with fellow guests. I’ve stayed in four or five different rooms throughout the property, and all seemed well-maintained (maybe I needed fresh batteries for a TV remote once, but even then, the staff was quick to help). The value I’ve gotten, especially when I book “early bird”, has been great. And you really just can’t beat the location — so close and convenient to everything. If you like to travel on a budget while still being treated to friendly service and comfortable accommodations, El Moro is a great option.

Clean, super homie feeling. It's in town great foods are just in front and next door awsome beach aswell. Good nonsmelly AC, hot showers with pressure and super nice staff. Pools clean.. areas are secure n clean as well. self laundery out back of hotel next door.. The owner is a great person too. Willing to fix or move you to a better spot if u need or want change. Good for longterm or short term. Plenty of outdoor seating great views of vegetation growing alla round and an old neat tree.. I feel super at home here with a kitchen and CABLE plenty to watch.. maids clean floor towels and beds every day for you too. Well worth the cost. I'll be back here to stay for sure.*** NOTE*** LOTS HAS CHANGED don't rely on old 1 star or two star yanks mad because their ice melted. New cook and good foods here.. stayed room 22.

The location is good and the staff are nice but the management is nonexistent. We strongly recommend that you avoid staying a Hotel el Moro. |On our first day there we got locked in our room and nobody answered at the front desk. We had to open a window and yell for help only to find that nobody was available to get us out. Fortunately, I was able to jimmy the door strike open from the inside with great effort. It turns out, they were aware that the door handle was broken well before they put us in the room!|Then there was a day we decided to hangout in the room only to have very loud construction start on the floor above us. They were literally using a rotary hammer (think jackhammer-like loud) on the actual floor above our bed. When asked how long this was to occur, they said 2 hours, so we went out for a couple of hours. We got back to the room to rest and the noise started again and continued through the afternoon. So much for R&R on a vacation.|We also had to throw out a bunch of food from the fridge because it was way too warm. The fridge did not cool things at all.|Finally, when we were checking out they tried to get us to pay almost $2,000 pesos for some unexplainable reason. We had paid in full and their request was completely unjustified.|We go on trips several times per year to areas like this, so we a familiar with the often “less than ideal” experiences and we are not naive travelers. With that in mind, please know that is the first time I have ever written...
