My recent dining experience at Autor, nestled within the luxurious Conrad Tulum Riviera Maya, was nothing short of extraordinary—a culinary masterpiece that left an indelible mark on our hearts and palates. From the moment we stepped into the elegantly designed space, with its warm ambiance and modern decor, we knew we were in for something special. Autor is not just a restaurant; it’s a destination that elevates dining to an art form, and we firmly believe it’s well on its way to earning a coveted Michelin star.
The star of the evening was undoubtedly our waiter, Manuel, whose infectious energy and glowing personality transformed our meal into a joyous celebration. His warmth was like a ray of sunshine, making us feel instantly welcomed and cared for. Manuel’s genuine enthusiasm for the menu, paired with his impeccable attention to detail, ensured that every moment was seamless. He effortlessly guided us through the culinary journey, offering thoughtful recommendations with a smile that never faded. His passion for hospitality is a rare gift, and he made our evening truly unforgettable.
At the helm of Autor’s kitchen is the brilliant Chef Osmani, a visionary whose creativity and mastery shine through in every dish. The menu is a symphony of flavors, blending local ingredients with innovative techniques to create plates that are as beautiful as they are delicious. What made our experience even more remarkable was the restaurant’s extraordinary effort to craft a bespoke vegetarian meal for us. Each course was a revelation—vibrant, perfectly balanced, and bursting with flavor, showcasing Chef Osmani’s ability to transform plant-based ingredients into culinary art. From delicate starters (must try the fried cheese) to a show-stopping main course (must try the cauliflower), every bite was a testament to his skill and dedication to accommodating our dietary preferences without compromising on creativity or taste.
The entire team at Autor went above and beyond, ensuring that every detail was perfect. The pacing of the meal was flawless, the presentation was stunning, and the flavors were nothing short of revelatory. It’s rare to find a restaurant that combines such culinary excellence with heartfelt hospitality, but Autor achieves this balance effortlessly. We left feeling not just satisfied, but inspired, already dreaming of our next visit. If this is the standard they’ve set, a Michelin star is surely on the horizon for Autor. To Chef Osmani, Manuel, and the entire team—thank you for an evening that will linger in our memories for...
Read moreWe are world travelers and love to eat local, but for our final meal in Tulum, we decided to go fancy. This restaurant is not in town, it's in the Conrad hotel. We didn't stay there, so we made a reservation. Then when we got to the gates of the Hilton complex, we showed them the reservation and we were able to drive in. It's not easy to find: but if you drive up to the Conrad (not the Hilton), the attendant will valet park your car. You walk in to the palatial lobby, and out into the vast courtyard, and Autor is on the left. This indoor restaurant is somewhat sterile, no party vibe here, but it's tastefully decorated. Our waiter was a local Mayan guy. He did a good job, considering this place attempts to do world class fine dining, and it's not something the waiter would have experienced himself. The food was world class. We were offered an amuse-bouche. I had the shrimp, my partner had bass, cooked perfectly, and we shared the broccoli in a wonderful peanut/tomato sauce. My only complaint is that I had to peel the shrimp by hand, and they were covered in sauce, and I was not given a finger bowl or hot towel before and after making a mess! I was offered a napkin, which had to do the job. In any case, I was tickled that the shrimp arrived in a sauce with local ingredients (tomato, pumpkin seed) on a bed of what looked like Chaya in a kimchi style. Chaya is a local vegetable, a favorite of mine, and I had just visited Korea, so I recognized the kimchi flavor. It was creative and delicious. The wine list was uninspired: Kim Crawford level wines and up. The meal was expensive ($100 pp) but a really lovely end to our vacation. Don't forget to saunter around the pools outside afterwards, or sit at one of the heaters and have a drink. It's a beautiful hotel! Would...
Read moreOur experience at Autor, located within the Conrad Tulum, was nothing short of extraordinary. As described on the Conrad's website, Autor serves as a canvas for ambitious chefs, and the tasting menu we indulged in reflected this commitment to culinary excellence.
This authentic Mexican fine dining establishment draws inspiration from the Yucatan peninsula, sourcing local ingredients that elevate each dish to a new level. Opting for the tasting menu was a decision we didn't regret – while it was definitely pricey, it was a symphony of flavors that showcased the chef's skill and creativity. We truly enjoyed every bite.
The ambiance was refined yet inviting, contributing to an intimate dining experience. Our server was attentive and fun to talk to, and saw we were cold and even brought us scarves to put over our shoulders. So sweet!
In summary, Autor delivered a memorable and genuinely amazing dining experience. For those seeking a fine dining experience that highlights the local flavors of the Yucatán peninsula, Autor at Conrad Tulum...
