This was one of the a la carte restaurants we booked as part of our package, and we weren't disappointed. Great service - friendly, professional, efficient. The dishes arrived rather quickly after the order, making the wait less than average. The "welcome" focaccia was pretty good, but a bit on the salty side. Carpaccio and calamari fritti were fine, and nicely served, but the taste wasn't something extraordinary. So was Il Filetto. What really blew my socks off was the salmon. I love and eat salmon quite a lot, but this was made to perfection! Medium done, it was tender in the middle and amazingly caramelized on top, with the perfectly match herbs paste and lemon sause. Arguably, the best I've ever had. If I could give this place 6 stars, I would've done so merely for this salmon! The desserts didn't disappoint either: a good pannacotta, and an equally good tiramisu. Bottom line: this dinner has exceeded my expectations from an all-inclusive resort restaurant. Kudos to the chef and the staff! The only major detractor for me was the lack of A/C. On a hot day, the heat distracts from the proper enjoyment...
Read moreThis is by far the best restaurant on the whole resort. The staff and servers were so friendly and our waiter name Alejandro and was amazing so friendly and they were so quick with the food and the drinks were also coming out very quick and tasted very good too the both strawberry and mango daiquiri I had. The food was also exceptionally good. I started off with bread and olive oil, balsamic vinegar and cheese and was really good would recommend giving it a try. Then I had calamari as my appetizer and it was great very fresh and tasted very good just wish it was a bit crispier then it would have been perfect. Then I had the seafood pasta and it was good and had lots of seafood in it and pasta was cooked really good and sauce was also good too. Finally the dessert I am not a big dessert or chocolate guy but decided to give it a try and it was very moist and creamy. The dish name was Chocolato Imperial that I had and would definitely recommend trying if you like sweat and chocolate stuff. Overall would highly recommend this restaurant as...
Read moreEverything is wrong about Dolce Vita. The supposedly Italian restaurant sports decors that may be nice, although big masks don't find a spot in any of my preferred restaurants, but they are most certainly not Italian. The service is not good, but that seems to be a more pervasive issue with the quality standards at the Bahia Principe Resort of which the restaurant is part. However, the very zealous hostess would not even let us seat at the table even if only one of us was missing. The food though takes the mess to a whole different level. In this clearly NOT Italian restaurant the meat cannelloni become a polpettone, the gnocchi fight for their lives in an ocean of blend and sticky Alfredo sauce, the Tiramisu is dry and the Panna Cotta is not sweet at all and has enough gelatin you can use it to hold together the pieces of the otherwise squeaky chairs. Therefore, unless you are about to starve to death, do not dine at Dolce Vita.
PS. This is a restaurant for which I would like to be able to rate 0 or even negative number of stars!...
