I dined at Frutos Del Mar on Jan 11th, 2022. Appetizer 3/5: “Crispy shrimp, rice paper and Nori seaweed accompanied with Avocado Mojo and Red Mojo” -basically fried rice paper with a dusting of shrimp powder but we’re a touch oily and slight soggy (might be humidity, might be from being fried too early). The red mojo was the tastiest.

Starter 1/5: “Oysters Rockefeller au gratin” Do not recommend oysters here. They were shrivelled and tiny and chewy. Definitely not fresh tasting.

Main 3/5: “Rock Shrimp” The plate it came on was chipped. The shrimp, not all of them were deveined which was a big no no in my opinion especially since they were already butterflies and it was supposed one of those fine dining restaurants.

Dessert 5/5: “Pina Colada Ice Cream Sandwich”. This was delicious. It was warm and cold. I liked the texture and taste.

Service 5/5: The service is very top notch. Waiters are super attentive and check up on you very often. A+ for effort. Service is quick. I dined alone but was in and out in 45min.

Overall I’ve dined at 4 a la carte restaurants and service so far has been great at all of them but food I expected more wow factor. Only 1 was actually decent overall, Dolce Vita.

Overall, a positive experience, but falls a little short of 5 stars. The complementary cocktails were rather bad, smelling like soap. We ordered alternative ones. The shrimp-flavoured fried snacks tasted good, but were a bit too oily. The starters - the mixed tartar with miso mayo, and the coconut shrimp (served on a quarter of a real coconut) were both very good, 5/5; awesome presentation, sophisticated taste. The soups were not bad, with the stone soup slightly better than the shrimp soup with truffle oil. Fancy serving, with the bowls brought containing the "dry" ingredients, and then the actual soup poured in at the table. 4/5. Both our main dishes were great. The chef's special octopus was cooked to perfection, although slightly too charred to my taste. The sauteed rice with scallops was just right. 5/5. The desserts turned out a little underwhelming - both literally, in terms of their size, and the taste. Despite their cery sophisticated presentation, the coconut/passion fruit custard, and red fruit, white chocolate and lemon zest tart weren't quite what I expected. 4/5 It was nice seeing the chef and the kitchen at work through the window, very...

Not the greatest, had ordered the " To Share" and is for 2-4 people, we had 4. Comes with ceviche, coconut shrimp, stuffed crab, avacado with crab balls and shrimp tostada. So I asked how many coconut shrimp are served and was told 2 then asked are we supposed to take a bite of a shrimp and pass it on. lol.would it not be logical if a table of 4 arrives it would be 4 pieces. So there was 2 small crab shells filled, and a taste or a fork full each, which was an inadequate taste. 2 ceviche dishes were enough to share between 4 people and then the 2 crab balls were cut into half to share. So the main course we had 2 orders of the Salmon was fine. 2 orders of the Fish and Seafood we had ordered were ok but seemed very hard to get the lobster from the shell so we didn't get it all out. There was more but very disappointed in this ala...

This was my first time coming to this restaurant and was very disappointed as had very good reviews. I started off with shrimp croquettes and it was so so. It was just very small and lacked some flavour. Then I had the shrimp soup with truffle oil and it was horrible. The soup was very fishy and had a weird unsettling taste to it. Finally I had the fried fish for dinner and it was really bland and had no flavour or seasoning to it. Even though it was a bigger portion it was not good and even with some sauce I had from it, was not great. I did not even want to stay for dessert that’s why and just ended up going to buffet at the resort. Overall would not recommend but would take in what I said and decide if this is the restaurant you want to choose on your all inclusive vacation.
