Located in the bustling Marina Commerciale restaurant district which surrounds the Dolphin Discovery Riviera Maya enclosure, Dos Chiles offers up a range of authentic regionally inspired dishes, beverages and appetizers that were quite good, but frankly seem a little overpriced, a little under-portioned and not quite as flavourful as we’ve experienced elsewhere. Don’t get me wrong, the food is really good. But a little lacklustre, under-seasoned sometimes, over-seasoned others. Our larger group of 10 was seated quite easily as the restaurant was not very busy, though at prime time or during a busier season it may be wise to call ahead and book a reservation. The pancho villa combo was a great platter, with quite the variety of options for sharing. The service was friendly and informative, but our order took over forty minutes to be prepared. Perhaps it was the time of day (lunch), the large group, or a staffing issue. Dow Chiles’ location is pretty spectacular and quite convenient, being located just steps away from the beautiful white sand beach of the Puerto Aventuras Beach Club. There may, however, be other options that would fill the craving for authentic Mexican cuisine a little more fully, with a...

I had fajitas. The chicken and veggies had a nice flavor. The style here is more simple than what you get at American places, where they usually give you a big bowl of chips and some salsa, then a side of beans and rice, and then a huge sizzling platter with three or four tortillas that you have to overstuff.
This is more like a reasonable, quiet lunch for one person... a little bit of refried beans and guacamole, just two decorative tortilla chips, but six to eight tortillas, which means you can have lots of small rolls and feel full.
I didn't like having to hear the neighboring restaurant's loud music, which is all 10 year old American pop hits, or the whole touristy atmosphere, but that isn't really the restaurant's fault. It's good food served quick at a...
Read moreEven though this is the oldest restaurant in Puerto Aventuras, I cannot in good conscience give more than 2 stars. The server was very nice... and that's about it. The guacamole was more than ordinary. I am pretty sure it was NOT made fresh. It looks like it was bought already made. The jalapeno poppers were frozen food. The beef fajitas were not great. The meat was very chewy. We ended up barely eating and just wanted to leave. I always Google and check reviews before going to restaurants and if you look at my other reviews... We usually do very well and leave good reviews. This time, I just can't. This was a TOTAL...
