Makito Japanese and Thai Restaurant — Restaurant in Quintana Roo

I don't usually write reviews ever, but this time I just had to, unfortunately. Food would be ok in this place, but the service is terrible, if you are planning to spend 2 hours in the restaurant waiting for your order, it's the perfect place! We ordered Green and Red Curry and a Roll, they took forever to serve the roll, after we finished the roll and were sitting for a while waiting for our Curries we realized that the server never even placed that order, so basically we waited for NOTHING. It is the only asian food place in Puerto Aventuras, so we decided to give it the second chance. Same... service was below terrible..server could NOT remember two things at a time and we spent there over an hour waiting for food, again... would not go back there and would not recommend, unless...

We have ordered from makitos for the last few years and the food is always consistently good. Apart from yesterday when I ordered delivery the tuna tataki which came completely cold like it just came out of the fridge. ( it’s been hot every other time I’ve had it.) and it had no ponzu sauce on it whatsoever. It was so bland. The chicken teriyaki came with next to no veggies and no broccoli which it normally comes with also very bland. The chicken satay sauce wasn’t a normal peanut sauce that they normally use, it was a bit weird. I believe they are under new management. We walked by one night when it was closed and made it a point to come back.

We arrived early, made a reservation for 6:15pm and walked around town a bit. No one was at the restaurant when we arrived.

When we returned for dinner at 6:15, it was still just basically us. The service was attentive and friendly.

After our drinks and edamame were dropped, it began to get busier and the service came to a halt. It took over an hour for our food to arrive after the edamame. When it did come, not all meals were ready, and half of my son's meal was forgotten about.

Dinner took nearly 3 hours. It was a long and frustrating experience.
