Estero — Restaurant in Quintana Roo

My family and I had the opportunity to visit this very nice restaurant for New Year’s eve. We weren’t staying in this hotel, however we paid 300 dollars per person, 4 people (About 25 thousand pesos) to dine here. Additionally we bought a bottle of wine, so technically the whole thing was about 1600 dollars, you’d expect something very special. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed with the service provided. First of all, we were accommodated in a table for 8 people, we were only 4, which does not make a lot of sense. When we arrived, there were no napkins in the table, which is weird for a dinner above 1000 dollars, we had to ask for them and they just brought them home in a bunch and we placed them ourselves. We ordered a wine bottle, the server opened it, and started serving it before we could even try it, which is a very basic protocol. One of the meals was a soup which was very good, when the server was serving it he dropped a drop in my shirt which is now stained. Overall the service quality was very poor. However, the food itself was spectacular. The special menu was great, everything was delicious. It’s so sad to see such a good place becoming a disappointing experience due to the service quality.
