The Most Disappointing Dining Experience of My Life — Beautiful Place, Terrible Management & Food
I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was so unbelievably bad I feel like I owe it to other diners — especially those who care about food quality and customer service.
From the start, things felt off. I ordered a green juice, expecting something fresh and vibrant. Instead, it tasted like it had gone bad or had some spoiled ingredient in it. Definitely not what you’d expect from a restaurant that presents itself as upscale and high-end.
Then came the real shocker. I ordered what I thought would be a quality veggie burger, something handmade or at least thoughtfully prepared. Instead, I was served a frozen Beyond Meat patty. Yes, frozen. And this isn’t just any product — Beyond Meat has been involved in lawsuits, and yet here it is, front and center on the menu of a supposedly premium restaurant. The burger tasted awful, like it had been thawed, refrozen, and then poorly cooked. Total disappointment.
When I voiced my concerns and asked to speak with someone, a supervisor named Javier Quesada came out. Let me just say — absolutely the worst management interaction I’ve ever had. Rude, dismissive, and completely lacking in basic customer service skills. His response? “You ordered it, so there’s nothing we can do.” I was expected to pay for food I didn’t eat, and there was zero willingness to make it right.
My brother’s poke bowl wasn’t great either — bland and uninspired — but again, no concern from staff.
Even the server was visibly uncomfortable and quietly apologized for how things were being handled. I appreciated that at least someone cared, but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough.
After we paid, I politely asked to speak to the chef — just to understand how this kind of food is being served at such a nice-looking restaurant. They made me wait quite a while before someone finally came out and told me the chef, Luis, was “too busy” and wouldn’t be coming out. I insisted — not to cause trouble, but just to speak directly to someone in charge. The response? They told me to leave. And then they called security on me… simply because I complained about the quality of my food. Let that sink in.
It was honestly surreal.
This place looks beautiful from the outside, but behind the doors, it’s run by people who seem more interested in protecting their egos and profits than delivering a good dining experience. Frozen food at high-end prices is unacceptable. Any real vegetarian or foodie would be shocked to find a restaurant like this cutting corners so drastically.
To the owners and chef — shame on you. You have a gorgeous space, but your management, food choices, and treatment of guests are ruining everything. You could be doing something amazing, but right now, this place is all style and absolutely no substance.
Be warned: read the menu carefully, don’t assume anything is fresh, and don’t expect anyone to care if you’re...
Read moreWe've been to many places to eat in tulum and I usually don't leave reviews for food, but in this case it was just unacceptable, it was by far the worst! The waitress was super rude, made disrespecting gestures and didn't wear a mask, no covid prevention measures like in any other place we've been (they lacked didn't measure your temperature or had gel to clean your hands) the chairs were uncomfortable and too low, the table dirty and with holes filled with dirt. We ordered two bagels with eggs and "lafiora". The bagels were burned, the "scrambled egg" on top was a French omelette with burned butter, my avocado toast with egg took longer than all other dishes. When I took the first bite I immediatley recognized the sour and bitter taste of the smashed avocado, which meant to me it was wrong or just from the day before. When I mentioned it, the rude waitress said she thinks that's normal and said she's gonna have to talk to the chef, because I wanted to take it out of the bill. After a while she came back and took the food to the chef (amazing covid measures) to taste it, she came back and said they took it from the bill. At least I didn't have to pay for it but I felt pretty bad in my stomach for a while. Never will come back here, for the prices they take you would expect more quality, attention and service, they did not even come back to ask if everything was OK, only until we finished. Sadly, the place is beautiful with beautiful birds singing and the amazing trees and lights. The Holistic Hotel should take care about this, since I am not the first one complaining about...
Read moreBeautiful outdoor restaurant with good food! Came here twice in a week just to try more dishes on their menu.
I got the vegetable sandwich which was alright…but definitely filling! Just didn’t have enough vegetables- the filling was the same as the salad you get on the side.
I’ve also got the home made pita bread with roasted vegetables - which was delicious and my favourite! Very filling and definitely serves two.
No pictures of these:
I’ve also tried the avocado toast which we received because the waiter got our order wrong, but we kept it and it was very good 👍🏼
I’ve also tried the tofu scramble which was alittle more disappointing unfortunately. We received the dish on the burnt end of cooked. So definitely wasn’t a fan. We did let the staff know and they made a new dish for us, but it still isn’t my favourite dish. That’s just a personal choice.
I’d still return to try other foods and I do adore the vibe there! Very calm,...
