Barracuda Cocina del mar San Pancho — Restaurant in San Francisco

This review is solely about the food at Barracuda in San Pancho. Service and atmosphere were mostly fine. I'm not commenting on either of those.

I've stayed in the Nayarit area many times. This trip my wife and I are spending 8 weeks in San Pancho.

The food we received at Barracudas in San Pancho last night was some of the worst I've had in the area.

Calamari sliced razor thin and deep fried into jerky. Not just a bit tough, I mean cooked to the point it was jerky-like. Dipping sauce was basically mayo with a bit of spice. Dish was way below average.

Coconut Shrimp cooked to oblivion. Tasted of burnt coating and old oil. 6 of them for ~400 pesos or something. Way below average.

Fish tacos. Fish over-battered and greasy. I'll give them this; it wasn't the worst dish!

Frutti de Mare. Kind of ok, but I swear the sauce tasted exactly like Chef Boyardee ravioli! Oh, and lastly, the two mussels in the dish we're cooked to oblivion; dry and tough. They were not cooked in the sauce, rather they were cooked on the side and inserted into the final dish.

Our bill was roughly 3000mxn (~200 CAD) for four people. No one like anything we were served.

I'm not normally a person who writes a review about a place I didn't like. I'd rather write positive reviews of places that exceeded expectations. Give credit where credit is due. This place, however, pretends to serve great food, at way above average prices, and it's not good. Do yourself a favour...

If you’re going to go to one place in San pancho make this your spot! The drinks, service, presentation of the food….everything was impeccable. We started with cocktails that were beautiful, and I myself am a cocktail snob, 10/10. I ordered the coconut fried shrimp and my husband ordered fish and shrimp tacos. Our waiter was so kind and attentive. Food was fresh, hot, and absolutely delicious. It is on the higher $ side for San Pancho, but well worth it. I’m still dreaming about those...

I can't believe how fantastic the food was at this establishment. Not only the food, but the beverages as well. Is it pricey? Yes! Is it worth it? Yes! Any of the seafood on this menu is unbelievably good. I wish I had the chance to meet the chef , and thank him for this experience. Impeccable presentation. All of our food was cooked to perfection. I will definitely return to this restaurant next year when I come back to Mexico. The Ambience was also amazing....
