Casa Chucho — Restaurant in San Francisco

I don't normally write bad reviews, but this experience was especially bad. I write this in hopes to save you from wasting money and from suffering from the terrible food and drinks.

I'll start by saying the service was fine, in fact they were pleasant considering the circumstances.

Where to start. The Margarita was the worst I've ever had - it contained almost no lime, maybe a half ounce of tequila - it tasted like slightly sweet limey water. We ordered 2 margaritas and one mezcalita, we were all dumbfounded how bad they were. It was not a one off. As we thought it might have been a mistake. The remade drinks were better, but still terrible and an abomination to call it a margarita (and in Mexico!).

We ordered chips and guacamole, it was good.

We ordered churros, they were so over fried that they were rock hard and crisp through. Anything is somewhat enjoyable if you dip it in enough caramel sauce.

Save yourself. Do not eat...

The food was wonderful. We shared the three taco combo plus two individual tacos; shrimp and chicken maco were our favs, but filet mignon was very good as well. The three tacos combo came with either french fries or a corn/cheese side (don't remember the name). We chose the corn/cheese side which was excellent; give it a try. Passion fruit margs were delightful. Don't be scared off by the limited number of reviews. They just opened in 2022 and closed for 2 months during the shoulder season, which is why they don't have many reviews yet. “We should have come here every night!” quoting my wife Pam, who has been here two months… So glad we did return for the excellent cooking, service, style, and accommodations. The Cauliflower Bites and the accompanying sauces kicked off a delicious meal, and the Shrimp Bowl was a particular hit. Peter and team, Jason-Fernando and Ivan, were truly à point, looking after all three of us so well. Luna, our Jackhuahua, was treated right royally.
