I had a really mellow day at Tierra Tropical Beach Club, which is typical for me since I’ve been many times before. However, things took a turn at the end when it came time to pay the bill.
They now have a two-tiered pricing system that wasn’t in place during my previous visits: • $1,200 MXN online in advance with $800 MXN credited back in consumption (making it a $400 MXN day pass). • $1,400 MXN on the day of with $800 MXN credited back in consumption (making it a $500 MXN day pass).
Unfortunately, their website didn’t show availability for the day I planned to visit, so I reached out via WhatsApp. They assured me they would honor the lower price.
When it was time to pay, they attempted to charge me the higher price. I had to speak with a manager to resolve the issue. What struck me as especially bizarre was how rude the person at the front desk was while running my credit card for the corrected bill. (It’s not like the extra $100 MXN came out of his pocket.)
After showing the WhatsApp conversation to the manager, they honored the lower price without issue, as they should. However, the negativity and agitation from the cashier left a bad impression.
The bottom line is: if a restaurant or beach club quotes you a price, they should honor it. Always double-check your bill and hold them accountable—that’s only fair.
That said, the facilities were as lovely as ever, with great food and excellent service from the waiters during...
Read moreSpent a full day here with 5 friends. The pool isn’t maintained properly, it was cloudy and uninviting. The food was hit and miss—a couple of dishes were decent but most per sub par, with some that clearly came out of a freezer rather than fresh. At the end of the day we were overcharged for several items on our bills, i.e. some items on our bill were priced higher than what was listed on the menu. They corrected the difference, but wouldn’t have if we hadn’t noticed. We also had an odd experience when paying. We all had separate bills, which they were happy to arrange (they even asked us if we wanted it that way at the beginning of the day.) The first person in our group paid their bill and added a tip all in one transaction, as usual. But then they told everyone else that any tips had to be charged in separate transactions from our bills, which seemed a little sketchy especially since that isn’t common, and also wasn’t the case for the first person in our group. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and the music was great. But, overall it wasn’t the experience I was expecting from a place that markets itself as a...
Read moreOne of my favorite parts of our trip. So glad we found this place! It was very quiet, only a few other people there (not high season). Absolutely beautiful space! Love the style and architecture and vibes. The pool was wonderful and pretty. My partner got a massage (in a pavilion but with the doors open to the beach). Food was great. Drinks were solid. I think it was great for the price. They charge you at the end of the… it’s a 1200 peso minimum (400 towards entrance fee and 800 towards food/beverage). We went over the 800 a little. Ended up costing us like $109 USD and I think it was totally worth it. We stayed there for like 5 hours. The staff was friendly but not too pushy, came around just enough to get what we needed. The steak tacos were great but the octopus tacos were even better. My partner got a ceviche dish that was stunning. Maybe better looking than it tasted but certainly not bad. Highly recommend! Peaceful and away from the town but not too far away that it’s difficult to get to. Wish we could’ve come back...
