I had high expectations because of the positive reviews and a food blog I follow highly recommended the restaurant but, unfortunately, I did not like any of the three items I ordered. The esquite was incredibly sour and even though I generally love sour food this one was hard to eat. The Huarache was quite salty but otherwise bland.
The place definitely tries to be high end cuisine but for me that only reflected in the prices and portion sizes but not in the quality of the food.
Update: To address the restaurant's response: A) The matter of breakfast vs lunch food did not factor into the review, it was solely based on my enjoyment of the food that I ate. B) We arrived at about 12:15 PM (not at 2 pm like the restaurant claims), so we thought we'd ask if breakfast food was still available as my girlfriend unfortunately has a lot of food intolerances and couldn't choose anything from the lunch menu. But this is not the first time this happened and she indulged me because I wanted to try this restaurant. C) I don't think there was anything to address with the waiters as to me it seemed the dishes/their preparation fundamentally did not agree with me but I'll keep this in mind...
Read moreI wish these chefs would take over the setting at Mama Mia Campestre. The setting there is gorgeous but the food is horrible. This is some of the best food we’ve had and San Miguel by far .Most of the food is gluten free. All of the food is fresh and delicious. The chefs are HIGHLY experienced. Hierva Santa is an amazing, hidden gem. We stumbled upon Hierba Santa while exploring San Miguel Day of the Dead celebrations. We took a chance on it and we are glad we did. The food was so delicious and the couple that own the restaurant are the chefs too. They are extremely kind and charming. Daniela, one of the owners, also paints the artistic decor, the signage, the interior. A delightful but hidden spot. It is a fun market to explore as well near Fabrica Aurora. Outside, lovely and delicious. The chips are hot and crispy and the guacamole was fantastic. We had tacos consommé and we didn’t know what they were but they were delicious so try them.
We just went and had their hot and cold chocolate. Delicious. They also have chíllate, a chocolate, rice sugar...

Service is always excellent. Our server immediately brought us menus and took our drink orders. The staff here has been well trained and they are friendly, professional, and extraordinarily polite.
This visit we order the guacamole and chips as an appetizer. The guac was spot on and was the perfect combination of taste and texture. It is garnished with cherry tomatoes, sliced radish, cilantro, and shredded cheese. The chips were warm and fresh.
Our favorite meal here is the cream of pablano soup. A bowl is brought out with corn, huitlacoche (corn fungus), parsley, watercress, sliced radish and squash blossoms. The server then slowly pours the soup over these ingredients. This soup really can be a meal in itself.
They usually have wonderful Cuban music piped in, but low enough so one can still enjoy good conversation in a nice...
