We have been coming here for 20 years and things have progressively gotten worse. Waited 1hr 20 mins + for our meal, and only 4 of 5 of them arrived. Flagged waiter after waiting 15 mins for missing meal. Flagged him a second time after another 15 mins passed. Requested sides didn’t arrive after multiple requests. Bills were totally wrong. Waiter understood error, went to have them corrected and they still came back wrong. After waiting an inordinate amount of time, we were leaving and were fully prepared to pay what we owed. Manager came over madder than a hatter and was angry at us. For what? Requesting that the bills be correct? Food is good, however the grande arrived as a small, but were charged for a larger portion. Waiter, who I know has worked there a minimum of 5 years couldn’t tell us what the portion size was. Orders majorly get messed up (all the time), and I advise that you keep an eye on your bill. We were charged for bringing our own beverages yet we didn’t and ordered from the restaurant. All in all, I won’t be back as I didn’t like anything about how this establishment is managed. Service is slow, and errors not rectified. Customer Service is...
Read moreThis IS comfort food, done Mexican style served fresh from the grill, hot (potentially both kinds of hot), tasty, and with a flair for prompt table service. Las Brochetas signature food is (are) its brochetas (not much of a surprise there). Brocheta is Spanish for shish kabob, and when done their way, it's a synonym for marvelous ... filet mignon and veges, open-fire roasted on a stick (as expected), a baked potato and charro beans (ask the chuck wagon boss how these are properly prepared ... a potential meal unto themselves). As I said, comfort food to the max.
For the more adventurous, there's a dish worth the experience called Molcajete. It qualifies as perhaps one of the richest "stew" type dishes I've ever had. You can order it in shrimp, chicken, or beef forms ... or "mixto" (all of the above in one bowl).
Molcajete arrives in a lava rock pestle ready to erupt (the tomato-based sauce literally a lava pool boiling in the bowl).
We two share one between us and a queso (cheese) covered baked potato between us. Ladle the stew over your half of the baked potato and I'd wager you've never had a decorated spud the likes of this one.
There's lots to enjoy on...
Read moreThis is an open-air taco type stand with far more on the menu than anywhere I've seen in the cities. There are 5 kinds of steaks, baked potatoes loaded with cheese. The charri beans are very good. I had a very good and tender ribeye. It was a good portion and had great flavor. The mocajete our friends had, they said, was the in the city. Tender, flavorful, and plenty of broth. The quesadilla was excellent. The servers seemed to have a little trouble tonight. They were kind, could not remember the orders. We asked for an extra side of the beans and they replaced the potato instead, but worked it out. They asked if we wanted tortillas but then forgot to bring them for 20 mins. But in the end it all worked out. We will be here again the prices quantity and quality of food are great. It can be a little noisy with traffic as it's right on a 4 lane street, but even at 7 it was not constant...
