I wanted to like this place because of the view, but the service and quality of food made that impossible. I showed up for breakfast and the fellow who greeted me initially seemed nice enough, but the other waiters were unfriendly to the point of being rude and surly. It was as if they were irritated by having to bother with customers.
I wanted hot tea instead of coffee, asking for green tea. The friendly guy showed up with a glass of cold, frothy green something or other, which I declined. Then one of the rude guys showed up, throwing three packets of tea on the table in a disrespectful manner, saying "this is all we have". I should have left right then, but chose black tea from the options offered.
I ordered one of the combo breakfasts and the 2nd of the rude waiters corrected my Spanish pronunciation of scrambled eggs in a mocking manner. Again, I should have left right then, but I shrugged it off and chose to go with the flow.
The food showed up and everything on the plate was cold; the eggs, chilequiles, chilario, toast, beans; everything cold. The orange juice was the only thing that was not cold; go figure. The hot tea was lukewarm.
It's clear that everything had been prepared in advance since the food arrived at my table less than a minute after I ordered. So I got the buffet style treatment where the cook only needed a few seconds to shovel previously prepared food onto a plate, then hand it to the waiter.
The food had no real flavor, other than the orange juice, which tasted off. I only had a couple sips of the OJ and left the rest.
To make matters worse I had to compete with aggressive pigeons for my breakfast, as they jumped on my table and other tables. In retrospect I would have been better off just giving them my meal.
At this point I saw a pigeon pooping on a neighboring table. Then I noticed the wet stains on my tablecloth. That did it for me. I was done. When the waiter brought me la cuenta he proudly announced, "only 155 pesos", as if this made up for the poor service, poor food, and questionable conditions.
I cannot recommend and would certainly...

While this is not the most inexpensive place around it is a great value. Chips and salsa are free. Most of that menu entrees are $16 and less. Several options around $10 to $12 (once converted from pesos) One of the best things here is the service. I've been coming to Mazatlan off and on for about a dozen years. There are three or four waiters here that have been here all that time and they recognize you when you come back. They gave my mother a hug. The food is very good. It used to be excellent but has gone down slightly. If you really like shrimp they have a combination shrimp meal for two that is absolutely amazing. Has four different types of shrimp a total of 12 so one half dozen each. If I were in the states I would say that I would still be hungry. But since Mazatlan is the shrimp capital of the West shrimp are enormous. My favorite is either the coconut shrimp or the Imperial shrimp. But everything...

Shrimp in avocado was a flavorful salad, with tomato slice garnish and a nice vinaigrette flavor. It came with saltine crackers. Odd. We ordered a limonada, and it was refreshing and better after a little more sugar syrup was added. Chicken fajitas came to the table with lots of sizzle, the tortillas hot and fresh. No onion was noticed in the mix, but lots of green and red sweet peppers and tasty, tender chicken. A good meal overall, looking out...
