Our experience here was really great. We stayed at Mi Amor, which is a sister property to this one and maybe a 5-minute walk away (and it’s setting it just beautiful, but that’s a different review). Every morning we would walk from Mi Amor (which is on the rocks and not a sandy beach) to Mezzanine, which is at the beginning of a mile-long beach that ends at the Tulum ruins. This is in the national park and so less crowded. We walked the length of the beach and back and then sat at Mezzanine for coffee, then smoothies, and on our last morning a full breakfast. We also had one full lunch, and dinner one night. The view is beautiful, right on the beach and sitting just above it to give a nice perch.
The drinks are tasty, especially the raspberry mint margarita and the hibiscus margarita. Really good and definitely recommend, and they are not light on the alcohol.
The smoothies are very good. We had two and both were great.
The food was very good. For our one breakfast we had the Chichen Itza and the Enchiladas Suizas. Different types of tastes, but both very good.
For our one lunch we had the Mayan sopes and the steak tacos. Both were super flavorful and fresh and good portions.
For our one dinner we had two appetizers (from which the Fresh Rolls were very fresh excellent) and the Panang curry and the Drunken Noodles. Again, very tasty.
The moral of the story with the food and drinks is that they are genuine, tasty, and not small. Not a typical beach place making money on the view and shorting you on other things, but true quality all around.
But the best part of the place is the people. The person at the front desk (I am sad I forgot her name, but I think Jacqueline) was just so smiley and friendly and helpful every morning when we came. And our coffee/smoothie/breakfast/lunch staff were all genuinely friendly. Not rushing you, not just being your server, but striking up conversations and nice exchanges. We don’t remember all the names, but Eliu, Asael, and especially David were all great servers and super friendly. Thanks to everyone there for being part of our four days on this Jaguar Park part of the...
Read moreService here was slow and rather inattentive. We spent a long time waiting for someone to take our order and just as long waiting to pay, while a very large number of staff walked by without even looking at our table or stood around joking with each other at the edges of the restaurant area. It also took a bit longer than it should have to get the water we ordered. The restaurant was busy, but it seemed like they had 1 staff for every 2-3 tables, so more than enough to provide quick service, but that’s not what we got.
Ambiance was good, we really enjoyed the feel of the space and it was setup to be a very good experience from that standpoint.
The food was not bad, but also not good. We had the Satay Chicken as a starter, which was well cooked and seasoned, tho a very small amount of chicken which was a bit obnoxious, also the peanut sauce was very watery and detracted from the dish a bit. For our mains we had the Phad Thai and “Drunken Noodles” (Pad Kee Mao), both with chicken. Both mains were under seasoned and rather bland but otherwise fine. The Pad Kee Mao was strange as each bite was rather different, like they failed to distribute the spices and flavors evenly through the dish, a couple of bites were sort of spicy while most were not at all despite ordering the middle tier of spicy (2 out of 3).
Overall this was an experience that was entirely forgettable. Not bad, not good, and not really worth the money when there are cheaper and equally priced locations a 1-2 minute walk down the street which are better in...
Read moreMezzanine Restaurant was definitely a highlight of our trip. From the moment we walked in, the views alone were breathtaking—situated right by the ocean, with a perfect breeze and stunning waves crashing below. We had a reservation for 7pm just as the sun was coming down. It sets a beautiful scene that makes the whole experience feel special.
We tried a variety of dishes, and every single one was delicious. The chicken dumplings and crispy money bags were perfectly crispy and flavorful, and the fresh rolls were light and refreshing. The Pad Thai and drunken noodles were full of flavor and cooked just right, making it hard to choose a favorite! For dessert, we couldn’t get enough of the tropical cheesecake and the Xocolatl—rich, decadent, and easily one of the best desserts we’ve had in Tulum.
The service was friendly and attentive, making sure we were well taken care of the entire time. They really go out of their way to make you feel welcomed and comfortable, adding to the overall relaxed and laid-back vibe of the place. We did get stopped by the police entering the area and they asked where we were going and made us show proof of our reservation. I’m assuming because of the ruins. Regardless, it was phenomenal and we really enjoyed it.
Whether you’re stopping by for lunch, dinner, or just to have some drinks and take in the ocean views, Mezzanine is a must. With great food, a chill atmosphere, and one of the best oceanfront settings in Tulum, I can’t...
