Absolutely phenomenal! Our favorite place in the World to relax and get away. The friendliest staff, extremely attentive in a pleasant way. Each cabana feels like you're on your own island, but with all the rustic luxury at your disposal. Mario and his staff were incredible. We have been going to Playa Esperanza for many years now and it has only improved with time. Some cabanas have air conditioning, some do not. We never needed it with a mosquito net over the bed and a beautifully constant sea breeze passing through our screened windows. They have a fabulous restaurant with a great menu and the drinks are fresh and high quality. The bar and restaurant staff are very pleasant and helpful, they really make you feel at home. On this trip, we even witnessed a sea turtle laying her eggs and returning to the sea, incredible. Playa Esperanza staff immediately marked this area for its protection. Playa Esperanza is now inside the Jaguar National Park and Bio-Reserve. There are some restrictions on bringing in disposal plastics and single use plastics and a small charge to enter the park. But this is such an improvement! The road leading to Playa Esperanza is now. devoid of all the cars and traffic.. it us completely dedicated to walking, cycling or taking the electric tram. You have access to the entire park, the Mayan Ruins of Tulum, the Mirador Tower, the fantastic Mayan Museum and much more. Playa Esperanza affords you easy access to all the National Park has to offer and the park is gurded by The National Guard it is very safe, secure and clean, a jewel of Mexico. We cannot wait to return for another week of heaven at Playa Esperanza. ¡Absolutamente fenomenal!

I stayed here, at the hut called Josefa (lower level). It was a great choice for us - we had a view of the beach, but it felt private because there were bushes for some privacy, and it was also right by the reception which made it easy for us to access whenever we had questions. We were not disturbed at all by the people staying upstairs. We could hear some chatting, but it wasn't so loud that we could overhear their conversations. One downside of our room was that in order to use the washroom, we had to go out and use a separate key to access it. To some, this might be a very mild inconvenience. The washroom is only two steps away outside our room. But to others, this may pose an inconvenience, especially if you like more privacy. People on the beach have a view of you so make sure you're fully clothed (although I doubt they're paying attention)! I loved that for our room, we had a hammock and two deck chairs to lounge on on our little patio. It was excellent. This hotel has some food, drinks, and ice cream as well. The food is pricey. While it is delicious, I would recommend heading to town for food at a significantly lower cost. Unfortunately, the bar and restaurant were closed for four out of the five days we stayed here which was inconvenient. Some nights we had to go to neighbouring hotels to eat. Overall, this hotel was pretty expensive for what it offered. Wifi only at the reception, no air conditioning, no electricity, no fans etc. However, out of all the beach stretches, I think this hotel had the cleanest beach! They were very meticulous about shovelling the seaweed away every morning. Other beaches at nearby hotels smelled bad, and as you walked on the sand, it would sink in and you'd find yourself stepping on a bed of rotting seaweed. The seaweed issue is beyond their control, but I commend Playa Esperanza for dealing with it as best as they can. The people at the reception were helpful and kind as well.

Great resort. A lovely balance of amenities and eco-tourism. The location steps on the beach is unreal. Already missing the sounds of the ocean at night. The beach club is so well staffed with such friendly people as well. Also wasn’t aware there was a pool here so that was a great surprise. I loved the outdoor shower most of all. To be clear this is not like a traditional hotel. The cabanas are very rustic and there will be bugs but the mosquito net around bed is large and works well. Some of the rooms don’t have a bathroom in the room but a few short steps from the room. Given the location it’s not hooked up to city infrastructure so the water and power is limited at times. But to be honest we were never really inconvenienced by it. But best to be aware. Any of the negative reviews on this are just due to people not being aware of the style of hospitality this place has to offer and to be frank just sound like spoiled children. This place was one of my favorite places I’ve ever stayed.
