In April we spent a week in Valladolid, and one night we decided to try this Italian restaurant.
It’s located in Valladolid downtown, and is actually two restaurants: Italian and Japanese, divided by a really nice courtyards (both belonging to the same owner). It is basically completely outdoor (like most places here), and although they always have fans running around you, the heat can be a little bit too much. However, that didn’t’ ruin the very relaxing atmosphere of the restaurant.
After we tried a salad and a pasta, we decided to come back again to try out other dishes as well. In fact, we came here for dinner all of our last 3 days in the city, and tried the pizza too.
We are Italians living abroad, so we understand the need of ethnic restaurants to adjust their original cuisine to the local taste. Because of that, we also appreciate a lot when we find authentic restaurants – above all in the least expected places! I’m not saying this is 100% authentic, but it’s very close to it – and the amazing fact is that they use local ingredients, and none of the kitchen staff ever traveled outside of Yucatan or Mexico.
The cocktails and wines (as well as cordials) are very decent; the espresso instead is pretty bad.
The staff is always super friendly and attentive. Most of the times we were served by Alondra, a really sweet yet professional person who even offered us a dessert (my favorite) as goodbye.
If you come from North America or Europe, you’ll find this restaurant cheap. We are hoping to return to Valladolid in the near future, and we will surely come back to...
Read moreThe pizza and the ambience were were great but the service was just terrible. We arrived and they said they were full and suggested us to go to a restaurant next to them but as soon as we sat down in that other restaurant a table got free. So we sat there. Ordered a pizza and they said it would take 30 minutes because the dough hadn’t fermented. However, 15 minutes later they delivered the pizza. We were still hungry after the pizza so we ordered another one, and the waiter said they couldn’t deliver it because it would take an hour. A few minutes later we see them giving pizza to other people. So I asked for pizza again, and they took the order and 10 minutes later we had our pizza. Last, but not least, if you choose to go, check your bill… they charged us usd28 for a cup of wine. When we asked about that it turns out the price was for a bottle. I’ve found this kind of confussions very...
Read moreAmazing food and amazing job from the kitchen/chefs. My favorite italian restaurant in Valladolid, and possibly top 5 in Mexico.
REMEMBER to choose your pasta type, otherwise they default on spaghetti. I like fettucini - you're able to capture the sauces better.
I would give it 5 stars but the service here is so SLOW. Maybe the SLOWEST I experienced in the 13 cities I've been in Mexico.
I came here 3 times while in Valladolid. Because I knew how slow they were the first 2 times, I asked for the bill half way during my meal, and I still had to WAIT 10 mins to get the bill/cuenta AFTER I finished, and waited another 10 mins just to pay.
Waited 20+ mins after my meal to pay, when I asked to pay half way during my meal. Unreal.
