Unfortunately, we had a disappointing experience.
I very clearly ordered decaf cappuccino (which was possible, following the menu), but when the waiter repeated my order, it became clear that he didn't write it down. I corrected him and it turned out that, "coincidentally", they didn't have decaf left. I cannot drink an entire cup of caffeine for health reasons and don't find it acceptable that when an establishment runs out of decaf, they think it's okay to not take it into account and hope that I won't notice. I acknowledge that he did repeat the order so that I had the chance to correct him, but as I ordered in Spanish and it was impossible to miss the (long) word "descaffeinado" (especially since I always articulate it in an almost exaggerating way, given the importance), I don't believe it was an accident that he didn't write it down (since they just happened to have run out of decaf).
In addition, my husband wanted to order the yoghurt with fruit. The waiter told us it wasn't available . However, when the table behind us ordered the same only 2 minutes after we ordered, this wasn't a problem? The table next to us got the yoghurt a few minutes later too. I can imagine maybe the ingredients had just been restocked, but in such case the waiter could have easily notified us so we could get what we wanted in the first place, rather than not mention anything while 2 tables next to ours did get it. It felt very rude.
The juice I ended up ordering didn't taste like it was freshly squeezed (but it did have icecubes in it, something I'm not used to and which makes the juice watery, so maybe that's why it didn't taste fresh even if it may have been) and my husband's avocado toast was only so-so (for instance: the bread was clearly cheap and store bought from a bag).
I think this place has a lot of potential, but our experience just wasn't...

Rúa Café is one of those spots that just gets it right—from the food to the coffee to the chill atmosphere. We ordered the avocado toast and the shrimp garlic tacos. Both were great, but the shrimp tacos? Next level. Insanely tasty and packed with flavor. Also all of their muffins are amazing, recommend trying any of their flavors.
Now let’s talk coffee—because this is where this place truly shines. As a local and a serious coffee lover (aka very picky), I can confidently say they have some of the best coffee in Valladolid. I always go for the iced caramel latte with just one pump of flavor, and they’re always happy to adjust it. The result is absolute perfection—every single time. The consistency and quality here are what keep me coming back.
Whether you’re stopping in for a bite or just grabbing your caffeine fix, Rúa is a...
Read moreHands down the best breakfast/ brunch spot in all of Valladolid, if you're staying in the city this place is a must. The food was downright delicious and fresh, thry even bake their own muffins etc. The service was excellent, the staff spoke English and they were very attentive. They have all the infrastructure you need to feel comfortable as a traveler passing by: Wifi worked well, they had menus in both English and Spanish and you could pay with all major credit cards.
Valladolid's tourism industry is still very young so not all places are of excellent quality, this place is among the few. 10/10 recommended.
P.S.: If you order the omelette, I highly recommend you add a few of the extra toppings. My favorite was the local Longaniza sausage (it does contain...
