Keller Holz Gastropub — Restaurant in Centru Sector

I went to their place the second time because I liked some food from their menu, but it turned into a huge disappointment.

The Tomahawk and one Ribeye steaks were the worst steaks I ever tried and I say that as a meat and steaks lover, I eat them a lot and also prepare them by myself.

The Tomahawk steak was so badly cooked that only 10% would be comestible and that only because the steak was dry aged (I asked it to be cooked medium rare). 90% Of that steak remained on the table in a pathetic state as I tried somehow to cut into that raw, full of silver skin meat.

When we were already walking away from the place (~200 m) a waiter was running after us, he heard my discussion with the waitress before leaving and he told me he looked at the remains of the steak in my plate and he was very embarrassed when he saw what's there.

He proposed to give us some good beer, I don't think they had anything else to offer at that moment, the place was closing already, but I proposed them to fix that next time when I'll visit their place.

Not sure I'll give them another chance after this experience though, even if I like their place/food/beer.

The food was really good and tasty. Beer variety was also great. But we got there on a Thursday when it was Fish Day, and you could only choose fish which was priced per 100gr. So you order and have no idea what price they will put at the end, as you don't know the weights of the dishes. Some people from our group didn't expect the price they had to pay just for the fish, not including the side dishes as vegetables and appetizers (these have a fixed price in the menu).

Reply to the owner response: It's strange to order something that you don't know the price for (at least approximative one). From where the client should know how much fish will be prepared 200gr or 1kg? and what will be the final cost? At least you have to warn the client that the fish will weight from 200gr to 300gr or smth like that. For me it seams more like a scam than a decent business. The waiter didn't warn us, we found out the price only when we got the bill, and all of us were surprised by it, since no one was expecting it. In our case there were no scale...

A very atmospheric restaurant with really nice food and a massive selection of Whiskey.

My friends and I like getting together towards the end of December and we select a different place every time.

This restaurant happened to be the most glamorous... And probably one of the best we've tried in Chisinau so far. Steaks are really nice, but be aware that there are limited numbers of sizes available and most of them are 500g+

I am not much of an eater and was worried I would not pull off such a massive steak, so I opted for a pork shoulder with potatoes. It was juicy and tender - exactly as I like it.

Some types of alcohol were ridiculously overpriced 🍷💸. We went for Finnish vodka and did not regret it 👍🏼

There is NO much parking space around. I would recommend using taxi 🚕 or public transport 🚎

The place is extremely popular - book in advance to avoid disappointment!

Fairly pricey, but if money is not a problem for you - it is a place well worth...
