Grape Cafe — Restaurant in Budva

Had a really frustrating experience here tonight. Followed reviews for attentive, friendly waiters/waitresses and amazing food we sought the Grape Cafe out However, we weren't greeted really, but found that pretty standard in Montenegro. Drinks took longer than expected to say there were only 2 other tables full. The unfortunate waitress could speak very very limited English (when a review said that they could) and the menu is so deceiving it didn't help her. Menu for grilled dishes shows prices per 100g of food, but the dish comes in 200-300g. Therefore the price advertised needs to be 2x or 3x for your actual bill. The poor waitress couldn't explain this prior as she couldn't speak English therefore we were shocked on receipt of the bill. It appeared to be a tapas style menu with small dishes, but no. It's full size and the final price will be a mystery. Really frustrated by this and a warning to other tourists. Not mentioned in any of the reviews here and the menu picture was very much out of date, uploaded new menu so you can see what I mean. The food was beautiful but i hate not knowing how much it was going to cost and being surprised at the bill (cash only payment) spoilt the whole experience for me. I know I am a tourist in a country but this behaviour and happening really vexes my British...

This place really doesn’t deserve the rating it has. Portions are much smaller than what’s written in the menu. For example it shows lamb is 400grams. It has 400grams only if they count the plate as well, not even then. Extremely slow servers. I needed to ask for water 3 times. The server never came to check on us and ask if we need anything. We waited for the food for a long time, even for the appetizer. Don’t get fooled by good reviews. Something is off with them. Serves dont speak Montenegrin nor English, only Russian. Maaaybe a few words of Montenegrin. Really disappointed by the food and service. For sure won’t be back and you shouldn’t waste your time nor money on this place because these reviews are fake for sure and we got fooled...

Был в кафе раза три - четыре. Кафе русских для русских, кое-кто из моих знакомых ходит сюда регулярно. Раньше в моем рейтинге Grape был чуть выше серединки.

Ценник на блюда сравним с ценами на первой линии от берега, но кафе далеко от моря в окружении домов.

Работа официантов прекрасна и нареканий не вызывает. А вот кухня не стабильна, и надо исправить работу с претензиями.

До этого случая вопросов к кухне не было. Обжёгся я на завтраке. Заказал кофе, блины с семгой, сырники. Cырники не удались. Во-первых, под корочкой они были жидкими. Во-вторых, они были кислыми настолько, что это было близко к уксусу.

От блюда отказался, а на вопрос официантки: "Всё ли вкусно?", ответил, что сырники как уксус. Попросил счет и собрался уходить, но тут началось шоу.

Пришла администратор Катя и на обиженном глазу стала мне рассказывать, что у них все супер качественное, а я в свои 43 года просто не знаю какими сырники быть должны быть. Мол они с поваром отведали и всё прекрасно, но коль мне не зашло она так и быть не включит их в счет... Тирада эта была весьма неприятной и можно сказать унизительной.

Я бы не писал этот отзыв, если бы администратор просто вежливо извинилась и закрыла бы вопрос. И ходил бы туда еще. И если бы не поведав эту историю друзьям, не получил бы +3 похожих историй про Grape с куриным супом от которого несло тухлятиной, с прокисшей сметаной к блинам и про шашлык сухой как дерево. И во всех случаях появляется Катерина и начинает убеждать клиента, что он не знает каким должно быть блюдо, а у них всё только лучшего качества...
