We went here for a late lunch. ✅️The staff are all really welcoming. They're very polite and accommodating. 😊
✅️🍽We ordered seekh kebabs with fries. We were given complimentary entrée (spicy olives, yoghurt dip, and salsa). We had lamb biryani for our main with lamb karahi and chapatti - craving some food from home! We had masala chai to finish.
✅️It was peaceful and calm 😌 ❌️The only annoying thing - much like everywhere else we have been - is the number of flies that are constantly hovering around. A fly zapper would have been great nearby the tables in the front courtyard area or citonella candles. 🪰🪰🪰🪰🪰🪰🪰🪰🪰🪰
✅️The seekh kebabs were actually beef, not lamb but very juicy and well flavoured, and the fries were nice and crispy. It was different to have beef kebabs in all honesty.😊
❌️We asked the chef whether there would be any fragrance in the rice - usually kewra or saffron. He assured us there wasn't, but something told me there would be - and I was right. It was not very overwhelming, but you could definitely taste it.
❌️The biryani lacked a masala to bind it together and bring flavour throughout all of the layers of rice. 🥘🍚
✅️The lamb karahi wasn't too bad. Good quality meat and a nice amount of gravy. Flavours were good, but we personally prefer it a bit more fried up, so we were not raving about the dish.🥘
✅️The chapati was as close as we were probably going to get to roti here - the flour was medha, so not quite that soft fluffy texture you get with roti atta. 🫓
✅️The chai was more like 'doodh pati', but that was welcomed after days of having no English tea! We love a good cuppa. The tea was fairly good but lacked the spice that we usually like. ☕️
✅️We did have a relaxing meal without any disturbances or rushing, but ❌️One flipside, which is of no fault of the owner is the endless street beggars that disturb your meal alongwith the constant sales pitches for shades, random music performances at your table from street artists and henna artists 🤦🏽♀️ it does get very annoying after being hounded all the time along the beachfront. You never have a peaceful meal along the promenade. 😑 perhaps looking into controlling this better would be advisable.
Overall, they were lovely and tried to accommodate us well.😊 We were a little surprised by the cost surmounting to approx...
Read moreThe starter onion and tomato mix was pretty spicy because of the hot sauce and chilis mixed in: eat it with some papadum (this combination is called masala papad in India). The dahi (next to the olives) is a good way to neutralize the spice.
The samosa were soft (just very slightly crispy) filled with potato and herbs. Definitely ask for the green (chili/mint) chutney as it changes the whole flavor. Always eat your samosa with chutney, and they did a great job at making their chutney.
I’ve ate Indian food my whole life and haven’t tasted daal like the Daal Tadka here. It was unique and earthy (lacking gravy which was atypical). The Palak paneer was alright and the spinach leaves somewhat intact (not destroyed to a sauce consistency) which is a boon as I like this texture more and it wasn’t overly oily. The naan was more like a thick paratha because of the flatbread folding.
The gulab jamun was spongy, too spongy, but the core flavor was there and the ice cream hot-cold combo was delicious.
While not the greatest Indian food you’ll ever eat, they do an amazing job with the ingredients available in the region. I wasn’t a big fan of the samosa or the samosa chaat but the chutneys really covered for them. The prices were bit high but justified, scaled for the area and location (tourist city and literally next to the beach). I would recommend this restaurant if you’re craving Indian...
Read moreReview of Bollywood, Agadir
I recently dined at Bollywood in Agadir, and I must say, my experience was quite disappointing. As a fan of Pakistani cuisine, I was looking forward to a flavorful meal, but unfortunately, the food fell far short of expectations.
Right from the start, it was clear that the dishes lacked the essential spices and seasonings that make Pakistani food so vibrant and enjoyable. The flavors were bland and uninspired, leaving me wondering if the chef had forgotten the basic elements that characterize authentic masala dishes. Each plate seemed to miss the mark, resulting in an overall tasteless experience.
Additionally, I found the prices to be quite steep for what was served. Given the lack of flavor and authenticity, it felt like a poor value for money. It’s hard to justify spending a premium on food that doesn’t deliver on taste or quality.
In short, I cannot recommend Bollywood. It was a disappointing culinary experience, and I would hesitate to suggest it to anyone, even my worst enemy. If you’re looking for authentic Pakistani cuisine with the richness and depth of flavor that it deserves, I recommend seeking out other options...
