We were greeted by a very friendly and charming owner. The starters were homemade bread served with a delicious selection of traditional Moroccan salads, and also a traditional pastry called a chicken pastilla. It was filled with almonds, chicken, cinnamon and sugar, we were amazed by its unique exotic depth of flavour. We also had some delicious, fresh fruit smoothies to drink. For the mains we ordered a beautifully flavoured lamb shoulder, as well as a Rafissa (a traditional dish which consists of a Moroccan crepe with fantastically seasoned chicken). We also got served the most incredible lamb tagine which melted in our mouths as it was so tender. The last dish which we had time to eat before our train back to Marrakech was chicken and couscous. It was delicious, served with a great selection of local vegetables which it was cooked with. The Service for from all the staff especially the owner was so exceptional that it was almost beyond belief. The owner was a former professional photographer and he even showed us his impressive collection of photographs which he had taken of the King. The restaurant was also elaborately decorated with traditional hand painted intricate Moroccan patterns on the ceiling, as well as a fascinating group of pictures on the walls. The kind and thoughtful owner even organised us tram tickets and helped us get to the nearest tram station, so that we wouldn’t be late for our train at the main station. Restaurant Le Cuistot Traditional was by far the place where we have had the best food and service in Morocco, highly recommend it to anyone who wants to try some fantastic traditional Moroccan homemade food.

If you're looking to experience authentic Moroccan cuisine in Casablanca, Le Cuistot Traditionnel is an absolute must-visit. This restaurant captures the soul of traditional Moroccan cooking with every dish it serves, offering a delightful blend of flavor, presentation, and heritage. The food is nothing short of exceptional. From perfectly spiced tagines to tender lamb, fragrant couscous, and freshly baked bread, every bite is rich in taste and tradition. Their use of high-quality ingredients and attention to detail in preparation clearly sets them apart. The ambiance is just as inviting. The interior design beautifully marries Moroccan elegance with cozy charm—intricate tilework, warm lighting, and authentic decor make you feel as if you’ve stepped into a Moroccan riad. The atmosphere is lively and warm, perfect for both intimate dinners and festive gatherings. Equally impressive is the staff. Friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, they go out of their way to ensure each guest feels welcomed and cared for, adding to the overall exceptional experience. If there’s one downside, it’s that the place can get quite crowded, which is a testament to its popularity. Also, prices are on the higher side, but honestly, for the quality of the food and the experience, it’s worth every dirham. In short, Le Cuistot Traditionnel delivers a truly memorable Moroccan dining experience—rich flavors, gorgeous setting, and top-notch service. Just be prepared to wait a bit or make a reservation ahead of time.

We went into Le Cuistot this afternoon to ask directions to the Musée Fondation Abderrahman Slaoui. The helpful and friendly owner/chef/creative director showed us it was around the corner and told us to drop by for lunch on our way back. So glad we did. On his advice we eschewed the Casablanca Salad in favour of a Medley of Moroccan Salads for two, which arrived in 8 separate dishes containing lentils, cauliflower in cumin, ratatouille, smoked aubergine, tomatoes, cucumbers, shallots and peppers together with home baked bread (using both barley and wheat to produce a delicious Moroccan soda bread). We finished with mint tea (or Berber whisky as Berbers call it). A great place for lunch if you're in central Casablanca. The owner was a professional photographer before retraining as a chef. His upstairs dining area is decorated with examples of his former work, in particular his photographs of Morocco's late King Hassan II and his son Mohammed VI.

Our experience was absolutely delightful. The restaurant is beautiful and the owner Aziz took care of us like family! On his recommendation, we started with the assortment of Moroccan salads and chicken pastilla (a flaky pastry unlike anything I’ve ever tasted) and then we had fish tagine and a roasted lamb dish, finished of course with Moroccan mint tea. We loved the tea so much that the owner explained how it was made and also had us try another traditional version made with the sheeba herb (wormwood.) After our amazing meal, we expressed wanting to see the sunset at the Hassan II mosque (just over a mile from the restaurant) and the owner decided to drive us there himself so we would not miss it having to wait for a taxi. This was so above and beyond! On the drive, we learned a bit about Aziz’s life, travels and family, and his prior career as a photographer. He is such a kind and fascinating man! Visit his restaurant, you won’t regret it.

A total disappointment! We went there to break fast during Ramadan period and for 154 Dirham EACH we received virtually nothimg! Most restaurants serve a set ftour (fast breaking menu) which includes a large selection of local delicacies plus juice , tea , etc! Here they gave us a few pastries , two small pieces of msemen bread with nothing to put on it (no cheese, honey or anything) and a mini pizza the size of a cracker ! They charged extra for the juice and tea! We were so hungry that by the end we had to order something additional to eat! By the end of it 715 Dirham for a mediocre quality and small portions! Service was average at best ( the waiter that served us had no idea and had to ask the owner about every question we asked him)! We went there based on the good reviews we had read but left feeling we had been TOTALLY ripped off! After complaining the owner said "ohhhh forgot to charge the tea ". ! Unbelievable!

Hidden in a quiet corner behind the arts center, this restaurant was the best culinary experience we had in Morocco. You'll be greeted with the friendly owner Mr. Aziz, who is a man of many talents, including gastronomy, language and photography. He clearly has a great taste for aesthetics, looking at the beautiful interior of the restaurant. Mr. Aziz took the time to introduce and recommend food options to all the diners. The food there was amazing. We had lamb ribs, cooked to savoury perfection without any typical (unpleasant) lamb taste; vegetable couscous tajine, with the sauce, made me feel I never had a real vegetable tajine before; tajine kefta with egg was flavorful, juicy and tender; Moroccan medley salad was delicious as well as beautifully presented. It is a bit pricey compared to other places in Morocco however if you crave a truly traditional dining experience, with quiet ambience, this is the place to visit.
