Went on Holiday to Morocco for a week and one of the things we did was go on a tour which led us to this restaurant. Where do I even begin? I understand that times can get really busy so there can be a delay in getting the food; everyone in the group understood this and we had no issue waiting the 40 minutes it took to get our food, but oh my, the food that we did receive was inedible. The chicken was dry and undercooked (this is NOT something you ever want to undercook), the vegetables were rotten and were tasteless, and overall no one on our table could finish the food. I have been to so many food places and this is by far the worst food experience I have ever had in my life. Looking at other tables, they had similar experiences as most of the food was left there uneaten.
Our tour group was split into a different table elsewhere and they experienced the same thing. Two of the people ordered the vegetable couscous and experienced food poisoning and were unable to eat dinner due to the symptoms. The person at my table thankfully stopped eating their couscous early on and seemed to be okay.
And for this, they want 130 MAD per dish? That's £10.50, which is the same price as the dish here in the UK from a good restaurant.
We complained and we were given the food free of charge, and one of the people at the table did say that the orange at least tasted alright, but that's about all it comes to the positives of this place.
There is no way on earth that this place is a 4.6/5 unless you are somehow bribing people into giving people good reviews with the promise of a discount, or purchasing fake reviews.
Please. If you are on the tour, there are other restaurants nearby. Do not eat here. You've...

Cuisine and Highlights Specializing in traditional Moroccan dishes, the restaurant is renowned for its chicken tagine, a classic choice, but we found the chicken skewers to be particularly noteworthy. The flavors were authentic, reflecting the local culinary traditions well. However, while the food was decent, it did not surpass the offerings of neighboring establishments.
Pricing and Value A significant point to note is the pricing structure. The standard menu, consisting of soup, a main course, and fruit, is priced between 14 to 15 euros. This is notably higher compared to nearby restaurants, where a similar meal can be found for 5 to 8 euros. Interestingly, there’s a discount for caravan tourists, who are charged 12 euros. This discrepancy seems to cater specifically to those arriving via organized tours, potentially due to partnerships with local caravans.
Ambiance and Cleanliness On a positive note, the restaurant maintains a pleasant and clean environment. This makes it a comfortable spot for tourists, especially those visiting the historic Ksar Ait Ben Haddou. The ambiance, while simple, adds to the overall appeal for travelers seeking a reliable dining option.
Conclusion Overall, Hôtel Restaurant L’Oasis D’or provides a satisfactory dining experience with its traditional menu and clean surroundings. However, the value for money is debatable, particularly given the more affordable alternatives in the vicinity. This establishment seems to thrive on its ties with caravan tours rather than on culinary...
Read moreUnfortunately anyone reading this probably has probably already eaten here. I saw through the scam as soon as the tour mentioned they would stop at restaurants for lunch but it wasn't included, and made sure we slipped away to eat elsewhere. From what everyone on our tour said they paid 150+ mad for a pretty average meal.
If you're lucky enough to read this before the stitch up, when your tour takes you to buy a headscarf just slip off and grab food somewhere else. We ate at "coffee restaurant assif" around the corner. Pretty standard tourist town price Moroccan food there (35-40 mad sandwiches etc, tagines a bit more), and with a great view on the terrace. We were the only ones there which was sad to see for the owner who must get crushed by the absolute tourist trapping machine that L'Oasis D'Or is.
When you slip off your guide with press you that the bus will leave in about 30 mins and you should stick with the group. It was more like 1.25h from then before the bus left, so don't stress about time. The busses pick people up from in front of L'Oasis, just exchange WhatsApp info with your driver or someone on your tour so you don't get lost.
This restaurant has raised its rating with a bunch of fake reviews. When we came back to reconnect with our tour it was sad to see so many people getting pushed through this place. The restaurants in town could really benefit from people not blindly following their guide here, and instead encourage some healthy competition between the other superior restaurants.
Tourists also should post up their reviews to give this restaurant a more realistic...
