Possibly the best restaurant to eat fish in Essaouira. The host is a very honest and polite gentleman who runs his restaurant entirely by himself. He invited us to see the fish by ourselves to show us that it’s truly fresh. The restaurant is a little kitchen just like the one you would find inside a house, with some tables outside and a table inside. He cooks everything from fresh ingredients, and it definitely shows. We ordered the fish and the octopus specialties, which came with vegetables and legumes, and it was absolutely delicious. If you’re looking for homemade meals, it doesn’t get more authentic than in this restaurant. The portions were perfect, not too much, not too little, and he brought us olives and bread free of charge. We ordered orange juice which was made freshly on the spot with juicy Moroccan oranges. I am very picky with restaurants because I seek only the authentic experiences, and I strongly recommend this restaurant...
Read moreI cannot even describe in words how good the octopus and sardines are here, but I will try. We ordered two plates of sardines and the owner got on his bicycle to go and buy them fresh near the beach. After two HUGE plates, we still wanted to try the octopus. No regrets! The sardines were perfectly fried, juicy, and tasty. The octopus was seasoned with some delicious herb and miraculously tender. Both were served with a side of fresh local bread and a lovely salad of stewed tomatoes, green beans, and peppers. I have eaten fish and octopus in many places, but this tiny restaurant in a little back alley of Essaouira beats them all. Please do yourself a favour and eat here. I won't even talk about how good the value was for money, but suffice it to say we would have happily paid triple what we...
Read moreA wonderful hole in the wall that served us the best poulpe in Essaouira. Only room for a couple of tables inside and perhaps a couple more out, so you’ll have to be lucky. But if you are a small group, or even just 2-3 people and you get in, it is perfect. It was just poulpe, so only go if you like octopus, but if you do then truly you won’t be disappointed. The owner/host/cook/server is amazingly kind and gracious. He made us strawberries with yoghurt for dessert, and helped us source the wonderful olives he served before the meal so we could bring some home. We picked them up the next day. This is a small gem of a place, which will be one of our abiding memories of this trip to...
