Retro Corner — Restaurant in Essaouira

Retro Corner is the best in Essaouira for healthy foods including many vegan options!!

The interior is cheerful and comfy. Exterior has a few seats along the walkway.

The staff is WONDERFUL!! Prices are very reasonable for the quality of food you receive.

And they have the best Vegetarian burgers. Served with fries and can me made vegan by adding vegan cheese.

The soups are amazing. My husband really enjoys the pumpkin soup and my favorite is the chickpea soup.

We have tried the veggie pastilla and the veggie cigars (like spring rolls). Both are very good. I also like the traditional Moroccan salad.

I also came with friends last week and I enjoyed the Avocado Quinoa salad. Portions are very large!!

Another plus is they can get plant based milks. I really liked my iced latte with oat milk.

Another excellent choice is to stop in for one of their many smoothies. My husband likes the Bamango (banana, mango & orange) and I like the Green Vitamin with cucumber, mint, Apple & avocado.

We visit Essaouira every March. This restaurant is our favorite corner!! We will be back. See you all...

Retro Corner is a little corner of calm in the hustle of the medina. The staff are very welcoming, and speak English, French and Arabic. The menu is simple but covers a good range of foods. They also have breakfast deals for 90MD. I’ve sampled their pumpkin soup, which is simple and hearty at the same time (it needs salt, but you can add that yourself) and comes with a whole basket of French style bread. As I had a hankering for pizza, I ordered their four cheese version. Again, it lacks salt, but otherwise it’s a solid 7.5/10. Not the best in town, but very nice, and a pleasant change from Moroccan dishes. For those of us who live very much in the 21st century, they have Wi-Fi and they accept card payments. Given both the type of food on offer, and the prices, you will find mainly Europeans and Americans eating here. Not sure if that’s a plus or a minus….. I’ve been twice already, and I’ll be back. I have been to Retro Corner on multiple occasions now and have tried something different each time. You cannot go wrong when ordering here, it will never disappoint. The food is so good that choosing something from the menu is nearly as difficult to do as trying to keep a busses speed above 50 miles per hour for an extended period of time. But eventually it must be done and you will be happy you figured it out.

In 2018, while film John Wick 3, Keanu Reeves was in the city of Essaouira. If we had been there at the same time then I would make it a top priority to recommend this restaurant to him. No doubt he would thank me for it. That’s how good I believe...
