La Datte d'Or — Restaurant in Ouarzazate

Ate dinner here when the restaurant was not busy. Great, friendly and thoughtful service, competitive / value price, and nice atmosphere both inside and outside the restaurant. Had the veal / pear (veau au poive) tangine which was very nice and a gentle, pleasing flavor, also the kefta topped pizza (pretty good, nothing wrong but not a pizza person’s pizza, pretty standard and good), and the couscous with 7 legumes/ vegetables which including some onion/beef mixture on top (you can choose your meat). They did not have the seafood pastille for our visit. The three dishes were way more than enough for two people to share, definitely two dishes would suffice, but we like to try different things. Started off great, the service was amazing and the food was delicious but only let down was we was planning on staying a bit longer and having a dessert as it was my husbands birthday but a big table came in and suddenly we wasn’t important anymore we was handed the bill without asking for it which we found very rude being a waitress myself I would never dream of doing that, I guess we could have said wait a minute we wasn’t done but we felt uncomfortable like we wasn’t wanted anymore. We had a lovely dinner. We were unsure what to order because everything seemed so good, so they then made the suggestion of giving us a family style meal for all of us, which meant 130 dirhams per person for a whole assortment of super tasty moroccan style salads, and a beautiful chicken tajine (we were offered the house special tajine but were really craving chicken with lemon and olives), some orange slices with cinnamon as a desert and moroccan tea.
