Brewer & Butcher — Restaurant in Erongo Region

This turned out to be a pretty solid experience overall. I didn’t expect to find a proper oxtail dish by the beach, but they delivered — it was rich, tender, and surprisingly well-executed for a spot that feels more like a casual coastal hangout than a fine dining venue.

They also serve fresh, hot desserts straight from the kitchen — the kind that arrive warm and feel more like a second course than an afterthought. I can’t remember the name of the one I had, but it came with a really good sweet warm sauce — definitely worth asking the staff for a recommendation on that.

The restaurant is beachfront with a spacious outdoor seating area, which I much preferred, and it doesn't feel on the walking side. However open and breezy, with a relaxed vibe and smoking area. The indoor space felt a lot more crowded and noisy, and lacked the same level of comfort or privacy — so if you're after a quieter meal, sit outside if you can.

One thing to flag: the service can be a bit slow, especially during busy hours. Not sure if that’s a regular thing or just bad timing on my visit, but it’s something to be aware of.

While staying in the historic coastal town of Swakopmund, renowned for its German influence, we were looking for some craft breweries to visit and found the Brewer & Butcher. During our visit we decided to start with a beer tasting, which included a selection of three different brews. We enjoyed the beers, but were disappointed to learn that they don't offer bottled beer for purchase; the only option for taking some home is to fill a growler. Moving on to lunch, the food was okay, but not exceptional. One of our guests ordered the Bobotie, which she found a bit too spicy for her liking. The service was also just average, not particularly attentive or welcoming. One of the things I liked was how the Brewer & Butcher blended a brewery and restaurant together, by providing a relaxed dining experience as well as having the brewing equipment within clear view. The location is fantastic, with great ocean views and close to other attractions, and they offer both inside and outside seating, making it a versatile choice for different occasions. Busy place with authentic local vocal singers due to Easter holidays. The service is more than overwhelmed - for more than 30 minutes we waited for any waiter to show up. Then bread was all gone and when we finally managed to order we got something different to what we ordered (burgers with brisket instead of beef patty) because the patties were sold out. Noone asked us if we wanted the brisket though. After finishing my plate I am still waiting for Ketchup for my fries - which I already ate... Quality of food is good, beer is good but to get any - beer or food - needs a lot of patience. My friend btw tends to only give 1 star as he was not a fan of the brisket at all.
