Disappointing Experience at Gangri Sui Mai – Avoid at All Costs

Gangri Sui Mai, once known for its affordable menu, good food, and decent service, has deteriorated terribly. Our recent visit was nothing short of a disaster.

Upon arrival, we noticed an empty table with a "Reserved" sign. When we asked the service staff if it was actually booked, they admitted it wasn’t but was being "held" in anticipation of a group of 7-8 people. Mind you, anticipation, not an actual reservation—completely unreasonable. When I was about to leave the restaurant for the same issue, the waiting staff finally let us sit on that table.

The sui mai momos we ordered were outright pathetic. They had a terrible stench, were clearly stale, and seemed to have been sitting in a refrigerator for who knows how long. It was a complete waste of money and an insult to good food.

To make things worse, the service staff was ignorant, unfriendly, and downright rude. There was no sense of hospitality or concern for customer satisfaction.

I would not recommend this place to anyone. It’s a waste of your hunger, your time, and your money. Avoid...

We came specifically for the open Momo's which were very tasty. You gotta come try it. They give you a hot sauce, a sweet sauce and a kindy mild sour salty sauce. Sorry I don't know technical names for sauce! I'm only deducting a star for the ambience as it's on a busy road which was hard for us to walk to from Thamel and the inside is really dated and doesn't give a super nice feeling. We kinda just ordered Momo's and were on our way. The staff helped us call a taxi back which was nice. Very disappointing on the service, we had a big family gathering and we ordered 5 to 6 types of snacks and they brought everything at once. We expect every restaurant to bring foods out one by one so that the food doesn’t get cold but that wasn’t the case. The staff also messed up the order and when i pointed it out, I was given an attitude. If you want regular customers/ happy customers, you need to improve on your service and staff.
