Stepping into Himalayan Java at Basantapur, you're immediately hit with a warm, inviting vibe. It’s definitely a popular spot, and you can see why – the location is fantastic, right by Durbar Square, offering some truly lovely views, especially from the upstairs seating. It’s the kind of place you want to settle into for a while, whether you’re meeting friends or just taking a break from the hustle and bustle outside. When it comes to the coffee, it seems like experiences can vary. Many folks rave about their coffee, calling it a reliable go-to for a decent cup, while others feel that the quality might not be quite what it used to be. It's still a solid choice for a good brew, but maybe not always the absolute best you've ever had. Their food menu is pretty extensive too, with a good variety of snacks and meals that generally hit the spot. Service can be a bit of a mixed bag, especially when it gets busy. During peak hours, it can feel a little slow or overwhelmed, but usually, the staff are friendly enough. Overall, it’s a comfortable and iconic place to grab a coffee in a prime location. It’s worth checking out for the ambiance and the view alone, and you might just find your new favorite...
Read moreA nice café with pleasant ambiance for breakfast and adequate food and coffee. We both had the full English - hash brown was very good, bread & beans were both tasty, eggs were underdone and the sausages left a bit to be desired. It was described on the menu as coming with crispy bacon, which was missing, and grilled tomato which was one, tiny, little cherry tomato each - a bit of a joke! Wi-fi speed was good, music chilled and staff efficient and not intrusive. Coffee was fine, perhaps not as good as we’d hoped based on other reviews but not too bad. Unimpressed that tax isn’t included in the menu (wasn’t clear) and that service was added a) automatically and b) before tax. Would visit...
Read moreI visited Himalayan Java Coffee during my trip to Durbar Square and ordered an Americano, Café Latte, Croissant, and Fish & Chips. Both the Americano and Café Latte were good, with smooth, well-balanced flavors. The croissant was fresh and tasty, but the fish & chips didn’t quite meet my expectations. The café offers a nice view of Durbar Square from the window, making it a relaxing spot to unwind and people-watch. However, the lack of air conditioning and a poorly working fan made it uncomfortable during warm hours. The service was very good and friendly. There’s no customer restroom, which is inconvenient. Overall, a decent place but...
