The food is average and overhyped. Their thali set doesn't really stand out. The potatoes could be tastier and the meat (both mutton AND chicken) taste very average. Definitely not as tasty as home but this is a place where we go to when we're too lazy to cook at home and are willing to put up with "whatever". Some days the food doesn't even taste as good as their average usual (like last night). Their daal is definitely rich though and the gundruk ko achaar is nice too.
Their spaghettis are always a let down for some reason. It always tastes like something's amiss. It's like they're trying to overcompensate for the lack of flavor with a big goop of creamy sauce. It has everything it's supposed to have- spaghetti, sauce, meat. But alas, NO flavor. It's like they've taken a good dish, washed it in the sink and put it in a fancy bowl, sent out to be served. It's like biting into a gorgeous red apple that tastes like styrofoam. It tastes like a good looking person with a horrible personality.
The nachos are not worth it. Don't even bother trying.
The chicken burgers are alright. I liked the cheese. The buns that they use could have been better. But the fries are well crisped and salted. I wouldn't consider the burger worth the price but it's not bad. Not the best not the worst.
Service is pretty slow on average. The management is also average. But the play area is nice for families with kids, dining out.
Although the waitstaff's hospitality doesn't have any affect on the taste of the food, and I don't expect an above-and-beyond service because I can't imagine hospitality being the most exciting and passionate job, I found that it does make the dining experience much more pleasant. Like the sweet lady who worked there who was full of polite smiles. And the other man who explained to us that they use chicken on their Bolognese instead of beef. He seemed well-informed about the dishes and was polite and all-smiles too which was good to know. (Because there's a note on the menu for people with allergies so its nice to see that they actually know about what goes into their food and its not just for show). The other servers werent rude or anything but those two definitely stood out to me even if the food didn't.
The parking space is definitely nothing to be worried about though.
I'd give this...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Jhimbu and it was an experience worth sharing. The restaurant is known for its authentic Thakali set, which truly stands out as their signature dish. As someone who appreciates traditional flavors, I was impressed by the care and authenticity put into this meal. The Thakali set includes an array of dishes that are a feast for both the eyes and the palate.
The set comes with perfectly cooked mutton, chicken, or fish, and the best part is that all the meat served here is halal, which is a significant plus for those who prefer or require halal options. The meat is tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The Thali itself is a beautiful assortment of flavors and textures, including papad, curd, beans, daal, salad, tomatoes, achar, Mustang alu, horse radish pickle, karela, and other traditional delicacies. Each component of the Thali is prepared with care, offering a true taste of Nepalese cuisine.
One of the best things about this restaurant is their generous policy of offering additional servings for free if you're still hungry. This makes it a fantastic place for hearty eaters who appreciate good food and value for money. Alongside the Thakali set, they also serve a variety of coffee and juice options, which are perfect for pairing with the meal or simply enjoying on their own.
Another highlight of the menu is their selection of burgers. These are not just any burgers, but ones that are crafted with the same level of care and flavor as their traditional dishes. Whether you're in the mood for something classic or something with a twist, their burgers are sure to satisfy.
The ambiance of the restaurant is another strong point. Whether you prefer the cozy, closed space or the airy, open space, [Restaurant Name] offers an atmosphere that enhances the dining experience. The decor is tastefully done, creating a warm and welcoming environment that makes you feel right at home.
In conclusion, Jimbu is a gem for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Thakali cuisine, delicious burgers, and a pleasant dining atmosphere. Whether you're dining alone, with family, or with friends, this restaurant offers something for everyone. I highly recommend giving it a try—you won't be...
