If you’re visiting the heart of Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this restaurant is a must-visit. Set amidst a historically rich backdrop, the ambience is traditional, making you feel as though you’ve been transported into an old Newari community. It’s a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle, where you can appreciate both the heritage and the relaxing atmosphere.
The food here is absolutely fantastic, especially considering the very affordable prices. One standout dish is the Newari set, which is perfect for a group of 5-6 people. The set features an array of delicious traditional items, including chuiraa, kachilla, choila, buff chili, dyakula, alu, achar, peanuts, soybeans, and the remarkable duck choila. If you’re a fan of authentic flavors, you won’t want to miss this. The spices and marination are spot-on, giving the dishes a homemade, traditional taste.
While most of the dishes are incredible, the kachilla and duck choila weren’t my personal favorites, but others might enjoy them. Apart from the Newari set, make sure to try the yomari, which is also delicious. The only dish that could have been improved was the momo, but overall, the restaurant’s offerings are top-notch.
For those looking to enjoy traditional Newari cuisine in a historic setting at unbeatable prices, this place is highly...
Read moreIt’s safe to say that this is my new favorite place for Newari food!
The atmosphere was peaceful, and ambient. The staffs were all very welcoming and attentive to all the needs. I appreciated the knowledge they carried about all food items. The star of the show was every food item. It was mouth watering and just delicious.
I had the Buff Newa Ghasa set with sides of mixed bara, soft bone dish, chyang, and coke. Each dishes had its own unique taste and didn’t feel repetitive. All dishes fell on mild spicy range, and went well with sweet chyang.
This is what I call a true comfort food. I am very glad to have found this place. The kitchen was open and clean. There were plenty of sitting styles and space. Most importantly, this did not put a dent on my wallet. Can’t...
Read moreI used to love this place when they opened and have been recommending people a lot about this place. However my past few experiences have been horrible. Live music is nice and all to have a good time but Food tasted bad. All the items we got smelled funky, especially Bhootan items and pangra smelled bad. We could even eat it that's how bad it was. We even made complaint to staff there and they didn't charged us for those two items coz food has become that bad.. I wouldn't want to go there for my next gathering ... Even if you do I would suggest to with hold on ordering everything rather than that taste a little bit firat and then order . Also, this bad service happened on a Saturday , a busiest day. I agree, however the food they served wasn't...
