Honacha Bhimsen is one of the most iconic and oldest eateries in Patan, located near the revered Bhimsen Temple in Mangal Bazar. A hidden gem nestled in the narrow alleys of this ancient city, Honacha has been serving traditional Newari cuisine for generations. The place is small, rustic, and filled with a sense of nostalgia that instantly connects visitors to the cultural soul of Lalitpur.
The eatery is famous for its authentic dishes like choila, bara, chatamari, sapu mhicha, and hyangu thwon (Newari rice beer). Despite its modest appearance, the food is rich, flavorful, and deeply rooted in Newar tradition. One of the highlights of Honacha Bhimsen is its open-fire kitchen, where food is freshly prepared in front of you, maintaining the legacy of old-school cooking. The simplicity of the ambience adds to the overall charm—it’s not about fine dining, but about real, soulful food served with heritage.
Honacha has become a cultural landmark, frequented by locals, food enthusiasts, and even international tourists looking to explore Nepal’s indigenous flavors. It’s not unusual to see people sitting on small stools, enjoying a plate of spicy buffalo meat and lentil pancakes while soaking in the buzzing, vibrant atmosphere of Patan.
For anyone seeking a true taste of traditional Newari food in an authentic setting, Honacha Bhimsen is an essential stop. It’s more than just a restaurant—it’s a living piece of history that reflects the culinary artistry of the...

Read moreNot a great place to place corporate order for they are extremely unprofessional. I have heard good reviews of the taste but the professionalism is kinda messed up there. I do not expect them to be professional either, but to be truthful about their service.
I asked for 65 yomaris to be prepared which were to be distributed for which half hour to an hour was the given time frame. That was a very quick time which got me extremely impressed. Unfortunately, after 4 hours, they are asking to cancel my request altogether and get those yomaris tomorrow instead.
I had confirmed several times before sending someone to receive the yomaris, and once the person is there to receive it, getting such a terrible response is quite bad.
I hope someone from the team reads this review and ups the game a bit. I wish good luck. I will update this review again if I ever get to taste the yomari there. Until then, it's a...
