Nestled in a cozy corner, this restaurant might not boast an expansive space or a grandiose ambience, but it exudes a warm, inviting charm. The interior is entirely closed, providing a serene environment away from the hustle and bustle of the outside world. Seating is flexible; you can choose to sit at tables or experience the traditional style of sitting on mats. If you’re coming with a large group of up to 20 people, the staff can open up the mat separator to widen the room, ensuring everyone can dine together comfortably. The service here is commendable. The staff is attentive and ensures your plates are refilled promptly once you finish your food. Their hospitality adds a personal touch to the dining experience, making you feel welcomed and valued as a customer. One of the notable aspects of this restaurant is its provision of halal food. However, I would recommend confirming with the staff whether all meat items meet halal standards, just to be sure. The restaurant is renowned for its Thakali food set, a quintessential dish that offers a delightful array of flavors. The set includes steamed rice, a hearty serving of Himalayan beans dal, and a choice of meats such as mutton, chicken, or fish. Complementing these are fried potatoes, lettuce, dried marinated spinach (sag), mushrooms, papad, and two types of achar (pickles) - horse radish and tomato. To top it all off, a generous dollop of ghee enhances the rich, aromatic flavors. Each component of the Thakali set is meticulously prepared, reflecting the traditional culinary art of the region. In addition to the Thakali set, the restaurant also offers momos, which are decent but not particularly remarkable. Nonetheless, they serve as a good accompaniment to the main dishes. Overall, this restaurant might have a modest setting, but it more than compensates with its exceptional service and delicious, authentic Thakali cuisine. If you're looking for a place that offers a genuine taste of traditional food in a homely environment, this is definitely worth a visit.

(I only give 1 or 5 stars) Although this place gets packed and is very popular amongst locals and travelers, I found the food to be overly salty. I got their saag and dahl and a boiled egg. Their saag was so salty that I dipped it in the warm water they served to wash the salt off. Their dahl was so salty I couldn’t finish it and felt bad leaving the soup behind. Their boiled egg was served with a cayenne pepper mix that was super salty and sour. Much like the rest of Nepal, their alcoholic beverage section cost more than their food. My friend ordered the chicken douda set - douda is basically buckwheat flour that is whipped with hot water until it turns into the consistency of mashed potatoes. It is an alternative to the rice you can get with a meal set. Even though the employees swore that the chicken was chicken, my friend was convinced it was lamb. The service was excellent, and they employees speak good English. I usually love Thakali food, however this was just way too salty and mysterious to enjoy.

Yet an another authentic thakali restaurant. This cuisine has started from mustang place. We visited in the weekday and by noon time. There was no much crowd. Avoid visiting in the weekends, as u need to wait for at least half an hour to get the table. We ordered 3 veg and 1 non veg thali. It’s a perfect authentic Thakali style of food. One unique thing of preparing food is that, they use wood fire and this is something old tradition way of cooking food. Wood fire cooked food is always healthy. They have seating arrangements in both ways i.e. sit on the floor using cushions or usual table and chair. We sat on the floor to feel the place. They have other veg and non veg items in their menu. However, nice place for authentic Thakali cuisine.

Thakkola Thakali is undeniably the best place for authentic Thakali cuisine, and it never fails to impress. If you’re familiar with Thakali food, you know how important it is to find a place that gets it right, and Thakkola Thakali does just that.

What sets Thakkola Thakali apart is the consistency and quality of both the food and the service. Every visit is a delight, with dishes that taste just as fantastic as the last time. The flavors are always on point, capturing the essence of Thakali cooking with perfection.

The fish set and chicken set are my personal favorites and absolute must-tries. The fish set features perfectly cooked fish with a delicate balance of spices that enhance its natural flavors, while the chicken set offers tender, flavorful chicken that is wonderfully seasoned. Both sets come with a variety of accompaniments that complement the main dishes beautifully, adding to the overall dining experience.

The service at Thakkola Thakali is consistently excellent as well. The staff are friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, always ready to provide recommendations or accommodate special requests. Their dedication to providing a top-notch dining experience is evident in every interaction.

Beyond the food and service, the ambiance of Thakkola Thakali adds to its appeal. The restaurant is warm and inviting, with a comfortable setting that makes you feel at home. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a meal with family or friends, whether you’re a longtime fan of Thakali cuisine or new to its delightful flavors.

Overall, Thakkola Thakali is a standout destination for anyone looking to enjoy the best of Thakali cuisine. The consistent quality, impeccable taste, and outstandijng service make it a top choice for dining out. If you appreciate Thakali food, this is the place to be—you won’t be...

Thakkhola Thakali Restaurant in Lalitpur is undoubtedly one of the best places to enjoy authentic Nepali food. The restaurant always seems to be bustling with satisfied guests, and it's clear why – the food is simple yet of excellent quality. It has earned a loyal following, including many foreign visitors who come to savor the flavors of Nepal.

One of the highlights of dining here is the warm and welcoming atmosphere. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted with a sincere "Namaste sir/ma'am," making you feel right at home. The same courtesy extends when you're leaving with a friendly "Thank you sir/ma'am." It's these little touches that make the experience truly special. True to the spirit of Thakali cuisine, the restaurant lives up to its name by offering hearty, delicious meals with generous portions.

The concept of "eat as much as you want" is reflected in the attentive service, where they continuously bring out extra dishes, ensuring you're never without a full plate. They offer a variety of chicken, fish, and vegetarian dishes, while red meat is notably absent from the menu.

The vibe of the place is casual and inviting, making it a perfect spot for both locals and tourists alike. I highly recommend Thakkhola Thakali to anyone looking to enjoy traditional Nepali flavors in a warm, welcoming setting. I will definitely be...
