This is the story of a cup. Of hot lemon.
Once upon a time, 3 travellers journeyed to the fifth house, located in the cliffs of upright rock - Thado-Dhunga, in search of beverages. They had heard of the mystical artful nature of this house - where the air itself felt like instagram filters. Lo and behold, when they reached the land, it was full to the brim with activity - where the taps flowed with sherpa beer and the brew, boiled with ily coffee.
Tasty were the omlettes, enough was the beer But hark! What can this be... while they observed the invoice of services, a subject of surprise. Rupees Three Hundred Forty (adding taxation) for a goblet of Hot lemon, mixed with honey (of dabur) and slices of earthen roots (ginger). Surely, this must be their misreading. But nay... the hot lemon with honey and sliced ginger MAY seem like an easy dish but this is the artisinal House of the Fifth. The drink utilized water from the himalayan peaks, honey from the far off fields and ginger only found in the remotest of ginger farms. Each sip was an investment... each breath was an art... each view into and around the goblet was to view art and the artisinalness of the fifth house of thadodhuga, the land of the upright rock.
Prepared were the travellers, for they had heard that the artisanal house of the fifth required jewels and heaps of currency for their services.
The travellers paid with their savings and walked off both in shock and in admiration. What more did they expect from a house curated as finely as such. An evenly priced hot lemon?
They walked, filled with knowledge and experience... that anytime you step into a restaurant; thy vision must be on the ancient texts that detail the cost of each devine consumable arts - the menu. And if order you must - the lemon water of higher temperature - know it is almost as pricey as a freaking beer.
The moral of this tale is:
The place is hella overpriced. Rs 340 (after adding taxes) for a stinking hot lemon is like; justified only if you are going to be adding any extra value to it... like maybe onions... I dunno... Sherpa beer on tap still a better economic option at house five...
Read moreAn absolute disappointment.
Let's get the positives out of the way first. The ambience, fantastic, the entire glass facade of the building really brings in a lot of natural lighting and the seating arrangements are great too. The customer service is good, the staff are kind, friendly, all in all good customer service.
Now let's come to the negatives and boy there is a lot here. So House5 serves Illy coffee, known to be one of the more premium coffee brands served around the valley. But for some reason, the coffee is priced more than rest of the establishments that serve the same brand of coffee. The price is not worth what is served here.
The second thing is the coffee itself, I ordered the Mocha Venezuela, but unfortunately all I got served was foam. My cup wasn't even full when served, and half of it was foam. The flavours weren't there. It was not a pleasant cup of coffee.
This would've been a 1-star rating if not for the customer service and the ambience here. House5 needs a lot of improvement in their...
Read moreAbsolutely disappointing experience. If you’re thinking of dining here, save yourself the frustration. The service was painfully slow – they clearly can’t handle high order volumes. We waited endlessly, only to be informed an hour later that they had completely forgotten our second order. Unacceptable!
To make matters worse, the owner seemed more focused on entertaining friends and family than running a proper restaurant. If you’re going to bring in your guests, at least have the decency to keep them in a private space. The noise, dancing, and kids running around were disruptive and made the atmosphere unbearable for other customers.
And let’s talk about the food – the chicken pizza was downright awful. The chicken had a strange smell, the pieces were too big, and the taste was just bland and numb. How hard is it to get a pizza right? I’ve had better frozen pizzas at home.
After this experience, I’m absolutely done with this place. No thank you,...
