I didn't try any of their burgers yet but some of their donuts were awesome. Much better than what one usually finds here. My only problem with their selection was that they don't make my favorite buttermilk bars. Or any French cruellers either. Some maple bars would have been good too and iced cinnamon buns also Instead of some of their more questionable inventions. Like their cookie donut.
We liked the salted caramel donuts the best. Our second favorite was the raspberry jelly donuts. Both were superb. Their glazed donut is pretty good too. Keep up the good work.
On our second trip to the Workshop Eatery we finally tried their burgers. They don't compare to Wendy's or McDonald's but were better than most other burger places in Nepal that I've tried. Disappointed with the buns though because they're not made with sesame seeds anymore despite the pictures. When I asked why I was shocked to be told the sesame seed buns were discontinued because a customer had complained! Stupidest thing I've ever heard! Anyway now their once classic sesame seed hamburger buns look really plain & rather weird now. Not nearly as appetizing as before.
On our third trip we got there early so we were able to try their sausage patty, bacon and egg wrap. Much more satisfying than their hamburgers. But unfortunately they are only served before 11:00 am. If I were them I'd serve their breakfast wraps all day since their burgers aren't nearly as good. For some reason you just can't get a great burger in Nepal.
Don't get me wrong though. The burgers here are better than most you find in Nepal. But the fact that they are without beef and the buns are made with cake flour is about as un-American as you can get. But everyone in Nepal does the same. And ruining everyone's health in the process. Nothing for restaurants here to be proud of. They should all get together and force the suppliers here to import decent flours instead of making excuses. Because making bread products with cake flour (Maida) is shameful. Another thing that was disappointing was the bacon burger I ordered came without any pickles, lettuce or anything else. So it was rather boring.
I just wish they would extend their breakfast time because this is where Workshop really shines. We got there right at 11:00 am and we were the only ones there and they still refused to serve us any breakfast. Not exactly a rush hour. It's just a shame they don't realize how good their breakfast wraps are compared to their burgers and serve them all day. Or just forget about making burgers and chicken sandwiches and serve only breakfast items and doughnuts. Because I'm afraid I've given up ever finding a good hamburger in Nepal. Spicy chicken sandwiches aren't my thing either. So we just come for the doughnuts now. The...
Read moreTheir breakfast wraps are awesome, in fact it’s the only thing they serve that I really like (other than some of their doughnuts) but the problem is they turn you away if you come at 11:00 and it’s impossible for us to get there any earlier. You race across town through heavy traffic for 40 minutes only to be told that breakfast is closed. So we gave up trying and started going to the Coffee Escape that serves breakfast foods including breakfast wraps all day long (as well as lunch and dinner items)…… because they care more about what their customers want than what time the clock says. So that’s why I’m giving this place only one star for now until they wake up and expand their breakfast time. They are stupid not too since it’s their best food offering here by far. As for their hamburgers, they are just so so and not really worth going back for. But then what burger in Nepal is? No doubt because buff just doesn’t compare to beef and never will. But the worst thing about the burgers made in Nepal are the buns. Made with cake flour (Maida) instead of the traditional bread flour. So naturally they are lousy. There’s no pickles or decent toppings here either. So despite the claim that this place serves American style hamburgers, nothing could be farther from the truth. One has to laugh even at most of the naive reviews praising their spicy chicken “burgers”. Because a real burger has no chicken in it. It’s a sandwich not a hamburger if it has chicken in it. Neither are American burgers spicy. So it’s sad that American hamburgers are so misrepresented here. They are a hundred times better.
A year later I’ve decided to repost. Their breakfast wrap (I assume) is still their best offering but I never can get here before 11:00 am. If only they could serve them until at least 12:00 because I’ve tried most of their hamburgers and wasn’t impressed so I rarely come here anymore. But today since I hadn’t eaten since yesterday I decided to try the double bacon cheeseburger from their menu. I liked it! In fact it’s the first and only time that I have ever liked a burger made in Nepal. But their was no pickle and no tomato, or any lettuce with the burger!...
