This was a relatively weird choice of me and my wife. We wanted to go to a true Chinese restaurant, but found out that these were too far away for a quick bite. I always rate after the context. You do not compare the local snackbar with a Michelin rated restaurant. That would be nonsensical. Therefor, I rate this tiny little restaurant after what they are: a weird duck in the world of international food. Honestly, I should have given them maybe 3* for the food and probably even less for the atmosphere. But on the other hand, it was a somewhat comical experience, the staff is obviously working as hard as they can, the lady came to our tables with the food and was very polite, wished us a good meal, she came with the extra serving of sambal to our table, and kindly ignored that one of the four of us had brought her own food bought in another shop. And actually, my bami with chicken tasted quite good, infinitely better than the noodles I had earlier this week in a restaurant in Amsterdam. The whole place could do with some renovation work, a complete Gordon Ramsey overhaul, but that would likely kill the authenticity and destroy their identity.
