Barista Café Aarkade — Restaurant in Alphen aan den Rijn

Went to grab a drink to go yesterday, I asked for a chai latte with a pump of pistachio monink. The girl that helped me was very kind and understanding. So I paid 6 euros( kind of expensive for such a drink) and waited for my drink. When I got my drink I already thought it looked a bit different that usual, but thought maybe they did something special today. I walked out and took a sip of my drink, I noticed right way that there was coffee in there. But I order a chai so that doesn’t contain coffee. I ofcourse walked back to the shop and asked if something went wrong with my drink. The woman I asked immediately reacted really rude, she said i was in the wrong and that she could not do anything with it. Is that what you call customer service? Ofcourse I apologized because I felt it was my fault even tho they did not take my order correctly. I asked if they could me the drink I asked for so they did, but while making the drink she and her collage were gossiping/ looking at me. After I got my drink I just wanted to leave and not make a scene of it. The drink was still fire but the feeling I left there the with was horrible. I don’t think I am gonna go there to grab a drink...

I have been to this place a few times now, mostly for lunch and sometimes only to grab a drink and chat with a friend. My overall impression is very positive, the only issue is that the staff are generally very busy. So they are not available right away and mostly not smiling. They are not rude or ay, they just don’t provide the kind feeling you expect in such a cozy place. The atmosphere is very nice and cozy. The menu is diverse enough and the drinks are customisable. we often drink coffee here. and each time the waiter brings a cookie in his hands. he / she holds the cookie with his bare hands and places it on the table. do you think customers like to eat these cookies after your hands? the answer is no !! it is not hygienic, unpleasant and even disgusting. dear owner of this cafe, please buy a pair of tweezers for waiters or at least disposable gloves. and teach your employees to bring cookies on a napkin at least.
