Ristorante San Giorgio — Restaurant in Amersfoort

I was alone and went there. The restaurant was almost empty (see photo), outside some places were occupied. I asked a place to sit but the guy said that it is not possible. I was surprised and told him that I can understand that outside maybe not but inside it was empty. He told me in a rude way that they don't have enough staff. Again I was just alone. I told him that this was very strange and that I don't like this behavior and I will share this experience. He asked me if this was blackmailing. I told him that it is more a warning for people not to go there. I left

I was once before there and I could eat there but also then I was surprised about the brutal way how (especially the cook) are treating people. It reminds me on bad experiences in Rome, but there there restaurants were crowded and staff is stressed but here it was a nearly empty restaurant

Excellent Sardinian restaurant. The chef is very nice and friendly and understanding, as is the owner. A little mastery of the Italian language will help you along the way and like all Italian chefs, his face clears up when you ask him to prepare specific Italian dishes. The carpaccio is incredibly good and fresh, the wines are of good quality and if you're nice to the chef and he has time, he will personally deliver your food and wait for your approval. Most Italian dishes can be ordered, even when they're not on the menu. Try to original spaghetti carbonara, for example.

Definitely a place to visit if you're in Amersfoort and feel like Italian dining.

S. Giorgio is always an experience to recommend. The venue is beautifully nestled in the historic city center and was originally an ancient cloister. The menu is extraordinary: Italian cuisine with exclusively Italian - always rigorously fresh! - ingredients. A delight for the palate. And if you need something truly special, talk to Luciano and ask what's available NOT being on the menu. As an Italian, I've sometimes eaten better here than in restaurants in Italy. Luciano and his staff are kind, helpful and friendly.
