A Sentimento - Italian Gastronomy Pizzeria — Restaurant in Amsterdam

So excited to have discovered such a delicious and authentic pizza place - right on my doorstep too! I've walked past this spot countless times while walking my dog, never realising it was a restaurant rather than just a catering company. I am so glad I finally did!

Ordering is easy - you can do it online, via the QR code on-site, or in person. When I finally popped in to check it out, a table of four was happily enjoying their pizzas, while the rest of the space was dedicated to the kitchen, making it more of a takeaway spot.

I was warmly welcomed by Federico, who was super friendly and enthusiastic. I ordered a Queen Margherita and a Diavola to takeaway, the Diavola came with an excellent homemade chilli oil.

Both pizzas were absolutely delicious, with an incredible base—chewy, slightly crispy (but not too crispy), and full of flavour with a hint of wholemeal. The toppings were really fresh and tasty.

It’s a newish spot that opened in the neighbourhood so I went to check it out. The prices for pizza are quite expensive compared to my usual Neapolitan spot. The guy that was taking my order was super chatty, which I personally don’t like, it was overwhelming. The spot itself is small, it’s takeaway only and the decor is a bit unfinished. I waited about 10min for 2 pizzas. I wasn’t sure if the pizza is supposed to be Neapolitan or some sort of hybrid, but I didn’t really like it - the dough was weird, heavy in a way, reminded me of actual bread and I didn’t like the flavor. They added pesto (?) on top of a margherita, which I didn’t appreciate. The crust was too burnt. It’s crazy to think but I’d rather order...

Amazing pizza! We had the Diavola pizza and they have another pizza with a pumpkin sauce, on which I had sausage and mushroom. The pizzas were delicious! The quality of the ingredients are excellent and you can tell the food is made with love. We were welcomed by the owner, if he was not the owner, then another staff member. He was super friendly and helpful with the menu choices and drink choices. His recommendations were spot on. It was great to chit chat while we waited for our food (take-out) and we will come back again on our next visit...
