I heard this place was known for its Turkish Yaprak Döner, so I wanted to give it a try. The restaurant was quiet when I arrived, but they served me a lentil soup that was silky in texture, full-bodied, and beautifully balanced in flavor. I was told their kelle paça soup is also excellent, but I saved that for another visit.

I had a portion of döner. The taste was authentic, though the meat was a little dry, probably because it was still early in the day. The unlimited tea was a nice and thoughtful touch.

For dessert, I tried kadayıf and sütlaç. The kadayıf was wonderfully crisp with a syrupy depth, while the sütlaç was creamy, smooth, and delicately sweet, a satisfying end to the meal.

The döner could be improved in tenderness, but overall the experience was good. The only downsides are that the restaurant is not in a central spot and the prices are a bit...

Update: I paid a second visit around lunch and I loved the döner. Will definitely be back! I still give only 4 stars because I think that the quality should be ensured throughout the day, I read another review where the same thing happened and the döner at the end of the day turned out to be chewy. But with this last experience I can definitely recommend!

Unfortunately, I don’t understand the massive compliments for their doner in the reviews or in Parool. I got a broodje doner which was essentially chewy meat in a slightly old bread with some lettuce. It was generally very dry. It’s also a rather small portion and up to twice the price (!) compared to other Döner kebabs I had in Amsterdam. The staff was super nice though and the place looks very authentic...

Would rate it 2 stars, but the baklava is absolute fire, so I give this place 3 stars. The meat is not fresh, and lacking seasoning. And watch out for the main guy, his name is Atilla, and he isn't a good guy. He pretends to be this honest and lovable neighborhood guy, but he pulls some shady business moves.

Make sure you get everything you pay for. We sat down, and had to ask him multiple times about giving us fries. If you're in a group, this guy skimps on individual portions of fries, and combines all fry portions in one basket. Pretty shady and dishonest. The prices are way too high for doner, I could list off places way better than this for way cheaper.

Wouldn't...

The BEST authentic Turkish Döner kebab in Amsterdam - hands down. This not your average doner sandwich shop. This restaurant serves döner meat according to a traditional Turkish recipe. Their menu is short, but really you don’t want anything else but their döner meat platter, which is served with pilav (rice) and a simple salad. Some bread on the side. This restaurant is a diamond in the rough. From the outside and from the interior you might have very low expectations. But as soon as you take the first bite, everything else dissipates. We need more places like this!

I have traveled all over the Netherlands and Europe in search of what we call “real Turkish döner.” The perfect balance of fat, the pure taste of the meat, and the harmony of all the ingredients make it truly exceptional. I have also tried their soups and desserts all of which I highly recommend but the döner stands out as truly remarkable
