I was having one of the best parties ever until this happened and I decided to leave, has techno now become a place for self entitled culture protectors?!
After dancing for a few hours, I was enjoying a little rest while observing the amazing crowd from the 1st floor balcony and truly enjoying the vibe. Legs were aching so for a few minutes I was laying on the balcony edge until someone approached me with a "Is this your first time at Bret?" and then went on lecturing me about how my position in that moment would "Stop the energy flowing from the groundfloor to the balcony" and reminded me in a very pedantic way that the balcony was also a dancefloor (like I didn't just dance there for the past hour lol), and had to repeat this multiple times implying that if I wanted to rest, I had to leave and that the balcony is not a spot for observing others dance. For a moment I didn't even understand what they meant, I thought they were part of the staff and were warning me about a safety concern since I was laying on the balcony edge but then I understood that I was in for a techno lesson by a regular Bretter..... One can not stop dancing for a moment? One can not absorb the energy and give it back by standing in that position? Stop assuming. Stop assuming what one knows about clubbing and the music itself, stop assuming what one is doing, thinking and feeling.
I have been to so many clubs in my life and I have never heard this nonsense, dude talked to me like I took the wrong exit to Tomorrowland. Whatever energy you talk about, I was having it, and you ruined it. And I had to leave. Thank you for ruining my experience. People like you are the real danger for what you call community and culture. So busy JUDGING others that they forget about the unity and the values at the base of such.
It almost feels like a nonsense to write this here and give this tiny person importance, but 2 days later I am still so pissed and disappointed. Thank you for ruining my day and my amazing experience at your...
Read moreterribel dutch service, overpriced and avoid their selfmade TONIC : what is this? A bunker durch-cheaply made out of containers! in the middle of the city serving overpriced food in such a nightmare of a pub maybe 1 star restaurant? They can sell only the location close to the terrible and very unsafe Sloterdijk station. Thats it. The food is overpriced, they close already at 12pm when treins are still going and when not - there is not a single safe place to stay at that area. When I arrived there once due to a technical faqll out of a trein direction north at 11:45 pm the bar tender kickt me already out because they argue they started to clean their bar. I was trying to argue about the complete trein desaster and its really one of the most unsafe trein stations in Amsterdam, but they did not let me in at 11:45 pm anymore. During another occasion I was trying their selfmade tonic and it was a desaster where even the bar tender told me that afterwords that nobody drinks it, but the dutch service people even recommended it to me. Typical ducth behaviour to sell selfmade stuff to look-alike tourists, and when I say look-alike, I never ever wanna wear clothings like typical dutch men! That is another big big NO GO in the headquarter of se.. and drugs business in Europe called Amsterdamned.

Read moreOne of the few convenient and reasonable AW places near Sloterdijk. This is mainly a place suited to drink, even though they have a couple of food options too. If you go here on a Friday afternoon, expect the place to be full (during covid times, reservations have been required).
BRET has a good selection of drinks. Bottled local brew IPAs or pitchers for beer lovers, cocktails as gin & tonic for the fine drinkers and tequila shots for the cheery to mention a few. For non alcoholic beverages, the selection is not much out of the ordinary even though there are some options.
The downstairs consists of the bar, a dancefloor with a DJ, and outdoor seating. Middle floor has some cozy tables for smaller groups, and the top floor has a roof terrace which is nice for larger groups.
The service differs depending on the day and person. The waiting time can be lengthy occasionally, but the staff is usually alright. BRET is a good place for social drinkers and fellow weekend celebrators, but if you prefer a calm and quiet pub then I would recommend...
