Café De Gaeper — Restaurant in Amsterdam

What can I say, I made it a point to return to this fantastic cafe and enjoy the warm welcoming hospitality that I was delighted to have after my first visit. I met the owner Dennis who was tending bar and he couldn't have been a more engaging, friendly host if he tried, it was a real pleasure. Also was lucky enough to enjoy a few rounds and some lively conversation with a few of the locals and Matthias who I met the first time I visited the bar. Great atmosphere, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT beer selection, tasty bar snacks....yeah I have made this terrific bar a must each and every time I visit...

This is my favourite bar in Amsterdam. I made time on the day of me heading out just to see Dennis, the guy who runs the joint. This is must go territory for Amsterdam. Everyone I’ve met here is friendly, kind and polite.

I seriously cannot give enough of a shout to Dennis. He took care of me on my birthday in Amsterdam, he’s quick, he’s kind, and he’s a hell of a bartender. Amazing bar and a gem of the city. Dennis, the owner, made my wife and I welcome during a visit and when I returned several years later I was treated with similar kindness by Mathias. It extends beyond the good pub food and quick drinks, to the atmosphere he's built. Great staff that are engaging and fun to hang with. Their warm approach is reflected in the clientele that visit, many of which are quick to strike up a conversation and share a story over a pint.
