BEWARE!! This company overcrowds their boats and you will not have any room to get up and walk around if the boat is full. I was extremely disappointed with my experience. The entire boat ride was extremely uncomfortable because of how full the boat was. My wife and I were not able to move at all during the ride because we were in the middle aisle toward the front. We wanted to go outside during the boat ride but we were not able to because there was no room to walk around. When we first entered the boat we saw that there was still some room along the seats by the window and asked the attendant if we could sit there. She did ask some people to move over but they did not make enough room. During the boat ride we noticed two people on the boat had huge backpacks that they placed on the seats, taking up space that could have easily fit two more people. We are very disappointed that the attendant did not ask these people to move the backpacks to make room for other customers. We saw that most other boats had an attendant from the company stay on the boat to serve the customers, but this company did not provide that. Our entire experience was ruined because of our discomfort. We spend most of the ride counting down the minutes until the ride is finished so we could get off the boat. We noticed that no other boats were as crowded as your company. Any other boat tour would have been better than this one. We also had major concerns about fire hazards with the overcrowded boat, especially since people are using lighters and smoking inside the boat. I am not sure about the fire rules in Amsterdam, but in the country we are from these circumstances would be considered a fire hazard and a danger.

The customer service here is terrible. Others may not agree with us but the experience we received from a lady called MARIA was absolutely ridiculous. My sister booked the smoke boat for us and paid âŹ25 each, we was staying in Eindhoven and due to the road works and no direct train line to Amsterdam Centraal, we had to take a longer route and we missed it. As we reached the smokeboat , my sister, hoping to explain why we missed it, received the most disgusting attitude from MARIA, she started yelling at my sister for no reason, raising her voice and not wanting to hear a word from her. My sister tried to ask for a refund or some sort and she started yelling âyou wonât get a refundâ. A gentleman and a lady called Sandra tried to diffuse the argument but Maria was being disrespectful towards her, not wanting to hear our part. Sandra was going on about police coming to them prior before we came, so something seems shady, I wanted to make a complaint and asked for her managers name and she did not give it, so here now writing a review on our experience. Maria suggested we come back the next day however we couldnât so asked for a refund, she said we wonât get a refund because the purchase was made online so thatâs âŹ55 gone. Overall, Maria should not be treating customers that way and for that reason we will not be booking smoke boat again and will not recommend it to anyone.

I booked the Smokeboat Budget Tour 12 days in advance for August 20, 2025, at 4:30 PM. This tour was a central part of our itinerary, and we arranged several other activities in Amsterdam around this specific time.
Upon arriving for our tour at the scheduled time, the staff immediately showed a lack of courtesy. They informed us that our names were not on the list and that the Budget Tour we had booked so long ago had been canceled for the day. They claimed to have called us the day before to notify us, which is untrue. Even if they had, it's an unacceptable excuse, as we had organized our entire day around this specific tour and, due to their last-minute cancellation, we could not fit in any other boat tour since we had no more time in Amsterdam.
We even offered to pay the difference to join the traditional tour, but despite the boat not being full, our request was denied.
The complete lack of organization and professionalism from Smoke Boat is shocking. This experience caused significant frustration and ruined a portion of our trip. To make matters worse, I have been trying to get a refund for this canceled tour without any response from your company.
I do not recommend Smokeboat to anyone. Save yourself the frustration and find a more reliable and customer-focused boat tour operator...
