I went into this café with the genuine intention of being a paying customer. Since I know that in the Netherlands it’s not common to use facilities without ordering something, I politely asked for a bottle of water. The lady told me they didn’t have any. I then asked if it would be possible to use the bathroom, and she said it would cost one euro in cash. I didn’t have cash on me, so I immediately offered to buy anything instead. At that point, she simply shook her head, waved me off with her hands, and told me to leave.
As someone who lives in the neighborhood, I have never been treated with such rudeness. Her behavior was unnecessarily dismissive, impolite, and frankly insulting. This kind of treatment is unacceptable anywhere, let alone in a place that supposedly welcomes...

Read moreThe cutest place! A traditional brown cafe in the trendy Jordaan area. We needed a coffee and a beer to keep us going and this was the place we accidently ran into. The service was very nice and we enjoyed our drinks while we could check out the next place on the internet (good connection). I had a feeling this was a place with lots of regulars and I can imagine that also at night this place...
